You can access Inventory-Templates.zip from the BDSSAInstallationDirectory/contents directory. This zip file contains the Content installer and the following artifacts:

  • Templates for Inventory reports
  • The collect_agent_logs.nsh script, which is needed to create agent log collection jobs.
  • The run_etl_from_om.nsh script, which is needed to create a Network Shell Script Job to run the ETL process.

The ETL job (usually launched by the run_etl.nsh NSH Script Job) extracts, transforms, and loads data from the BMC Server Automation core database into the reports data warehouse. To see the detailed status of an ETL job process, launch the Metadata Navigator console by using the following URL: https://<ReportsServer>:9300/oracledimn/. The user is usually BL_READER. Drill down from the top level node. Green check marks indicate successful execution. Look for yellow or red check marks. You might need to dig down several levels. Click the "last" tasks to find the task during which a failure happened. You might be able to find a database-specific error, for example, running out of table space. Contact your DBA to resolve the issue or contact BMC Support for more information.

The information about custom reports is available in the BMC BladeLogic Decision Support for Server Automation User Guide: Report Authoring at PDFs.

To use Report Studio, you must purchase a license for it and then enable it using the instructions that you are given when you purchase the license. To obtain the license, contact BMC Support.

You can edit existing reports using Report Studio. To use Report Studio, you must purchase a license for it and then enable it using the instructions that you are given when you purchase the license. Note

BMC recommends that you not modify built-in reports. Modification can result in corrupted reports. If you want to use modified versions of the built-in reports, such as adding more report filters, save the reports with a different name. BMC does not guarantee that modified versions of built-in reports will work in future releases.

For information about creating report templates and customizing branding, see the discussion at https://communities.bmc.com/communities/docs/DOC-19341.

To change the default timeout period, complete the following steps:

  1. On the reports server, navigate to the following directory: REPORTS_HOME/portal/configuration.
  2. Open the cogstartup.xml file in a text editor.
  3. Search for the inactivityTimeout parameter and change its value according to your requirements.

For information about creating report views, see the IBM Cognos Connection User Guide at PDFs.
