Rule Action Types
Data Privacy provides format-preserving encryption, translation, composite, and overloaded rule actions.
When the rule is executed, the rule actions will be executed in the order specified unless rule logic is included in the rule. The following topics define and describe how to use the available data privacy rule actions:
- Format-Preserving-Encryption: Encrypts or decrypts your data using a managed key or by entering a key value. You can select data elements or variables to be included in the rule action, or enter a field mask for the selected items.
- Translation: Replaces data to be disguised with data from a previously created translate table.
- Composite: Disguise parts of your data by using the composite definition. You can select the parts of data to be disguised by mapping a data element to a data item.
Overloaded: Disguise data based on the condition specified.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
