Issue

Delays may be experienced because of the automatic activation of the new "AUTO" option for the ThruPut Manager Control File. When the AUTO option is set, the JES2 MASDEF parameters, including those changed with the JES2 CYCLEMGT=AUTO option, are used for the MINDORM, MAXDORM, and MINHOLD Control File parameters. This may cause significant processing delays in some large customer environments. Delays are more likely to occur during a maintenance rollout when support is activated for only some of the JESplex members.

With the current maintenance, the AUTO option is enabled by default when no Control File performance parameters are specified on the FILE CF initialization statement.

The CFM command does not deactivate the AUTO option for the Control File.

A symptom of this issue is frequent instances of any of the following messages: DTM3550I, DTM3551A, DTM8180E, or DTM8181E.

This issue may occur when any of the following conditions exists:

  • You have applied PTF TMT7132 for version 18.02.
  • You have applied PTF TMT8102 for version 22.4.
  • You have updated to version 22.4 from any earlier version.

Important

Do not use the CFM command until the appropriate APAR fix has been applied unless directed by BMC. Using any CFM command, including CFM D, might inadvertently activate the AUTO option.

Resolution

The APARs in the table implement the following corrective actions:

  • AUTO is no longer the default option for the Control File. To use it, you must explicitly specify it.
  • You can use the CFM command to disable the AUTO option. The following syntax disables the AUTO option:

CFM SET AUTO(OFF)

Use the CFM SET command to set the desired values for MINDORM, MAXDORM, and MINHOLD.
