Setting up the BMC AMI Defender for IMS

Use the following procedure to set up and use the product.

  1. Update the IMS control region JCL (STEPLIB DD) as follows:

    1.  Add the Defender for IMS runtime load libraries to the IMS control region STEPLIB concatenation. The runtime load libraries consist of AFILIB, ICOLIB, and the Defender for IMS IMSID options library.
    2. Ensure that the Defender for IMS concatenated DDs are added ahead of the IMS RESLIB data set.
    3. Ensure that the Defender for IMS concatenated DDs data sets are APF-authorized.

  2. Set up access to the Defender for IMS ISPF Application.

You can find the AFICI@00 sample CLIST in the AFISAMP Library. This CLIST provides access to the online interface using LIBDEF.

    1. Copy the SAMP library member into your CLIST library and update the applicable data set names to reference your data sets. See the inline documentation of the CLIST and make appropriate changes for your installation.

    2. Start the ISPF CLIST.

      Example

      EX 'HLQ.AFISAMP(AFICI@00)'

  3. Allocate your options library and extract list library using the ISPF Option 4, Allocate Data Sets. See Allocating data sets for BMC AMI Defender for IMS for the procedure.
See the sections Setting up IMSID options for BMC AMI Defender for IMS and Setting up server options for BMC AMI Defender for IMS for additional customization.

  4. Create a new STARTED TASK procedure for the BMC Defender server.
You can  use the sample PROC that BMC provides called AFI#BJCL, which you can find in the AFICNTL library. The Inline JCL comments explain how to customize the PROC.

    Note

The server requires the AFILIB and XXLINK runtime load libraries, and the AMI Defender for IMS options library. These data sets require APF authorization..

  5. Define your extract list. See Setting up extract lists for BMC AMI Defender for IMS for the procedure.

  6. Add the library containing the BMC Password module to your IMS Control region STEPLIB DD concatenation. You can use the sample password module generator JCL called AFI#CPUM, which you can find in AFICNTL.

  7. Start your IMS control region after ensuring that the above steps are complete. You should see the message BMCAFI000011I AMI Defender for IMS initialization complete if all the steps are successful.

  8. Start your server proc created above. You should see the following message if the server starts successfully:

BMCAFI000022I AMI Defender for IMS Server xxxx initialization complete, where xxxx is your server ID.
