Enabling logs for the plug-ins server
As an administrator, you can configure the plug-in server to customize the logging settings for troubleshooting scenarios. The plug-in server hosts the shared plug-ins on port number 9556. The plug-in server hosts the BMC CMDB plug-ins such as event engine, service context, deprecation, and so on. The default plug-in server logging is set to WARN. To troubleshoot the AR plug-in server, you might need to change its logging settings.
To configure plug-in server logging
- In the Remedy Action Request System Administration Console, select AR System Administration > AR System Administration Console > System > General > Plugin Server Configuration.
The Plugin Server Configuration window opens. - From the Plugin Server Instance list, select the plug-in server with port number 9556.
This is the port used for the shared CMDB plug-ins. To view the server configurations, click the Global Plugin Server Configurations tab.
Modify the following settings:
Setting Description Enable Plugin Log Enables logging for the plug-in server. Log level Defines what type of information is saved in the log file. Log file Defines the path on the server where the log file is saved.
Maximum Log File Size When the log file reaches the file size limit, a new log file is created with a different file name. The older files are not automatically deleted.
Log History Specifies the number of log files to be maintained as a backup. Click Apply and then Close.
