Follow these instructions to install the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server on Microsoft Windows with SAP SQL Anywhere as the database. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, see Upgrading BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server.

Before you begin

  • If you are using the Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) to install the product, put the RDC in console mode.
  • If you want to integrate Infrastructure Management with SCOM 2007 and 2012, ensure that .NET Framework version 3.0 is installed. If you are installing it on Windows 2008, use the Role Management tool. For more information about installing .NET Framework, see the Microsoft website.

Encryption settings

The Infrastructure Management Server uses 256-bit SSL encryption, by default. Due to import regulations in some countries, AES256-bit encryption is not allowed. You must select the appropriate encryption key size when you invoke the installer; otherwise, the installer uses the default 256-bit SSL encryption.

In a command line, navigate to the Disk1 folder in the installation file structure and enter the following command tochange the encryption key size:

  • Windows

    setup.exe –J BMC_TS_KEY_SZ=<128/256>
  • Linux

    ./setup.bin –J BMC_TS_KEY_SZ=<128/256>

128 is AES 128-bit encryption key
256 is AES 256-bit encryption key

To install the Infrastructure Management Server on Microsoft Windows with SAP SQL Anywhere

  1. Access the installation program by using one of these methods:

  2. Extract the contents of the zipped distribution file to an appropriate directory on the computer where the BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server will be installed.
  3. In the <installLocation>\Windows directory, open the TSIMServer\Disk1 folder. Double-click install.cmd.

    Important

Ensure that you run the installer using install.cmd and not setup.exe.

  4. On the Welcome page, click Next.

  5. On the license agreement page, select I agree to the terms of the license agreement, and click Next.

  6. On the Configuring Firewall Rules page, perform one of the following tasks, and click Next. You must configure firewall rules to allow Infrastructure Management processes to communicate through the firewall.

Ensure that the custom cluster group is already created and that the cluster is working in the specified group. The custom cluster group name must be same as the custom cluster name.

  8.  On the Directory Selection page, retain the default directory (\Program Files\BMC Software\TrueSight), or click Browse to select a different directory, and click Next.

    Warning

    • Do not install BMC TrueSight Infrastructure Management Server in a root directory (for example C: or D: ), on a shared drive, or in the Documents and Settings folder.
