Explanation: A filter was specified that contains a comparison, but the two data types cannot be compared. For example, a character field cannot be compared to a numeric field. The filter is not executed and this message is displayed. When ENTER is pressed, the view or form appears but may contain more data than intended.

User response: Correct the filter by issuing the Where or QWhere command in the COMMAND field to display the current filter. Type over the current value(s) shown on the pop-up panel.

BBMXY108

Invalid string: string for numeric conversion


Explanation: A filter was specified that contains a numeric comparison for the data named string, but string is not a valid number. Only numeric fields can be specified in numeric comparisons within filters. The filter is not executed and this message is displayed. When ENTER is pressed, the view or form appears but might contain more data than intended.

User response: Correct the filter by issuing the Where or QWhere command in the COMMAND field to display the current filter. Type over the current value(s) shown on the pop-up panel. If the PARms or QPARms command was used, reissue the command and filter specification in the COMMAND field. If a hyperlink was invoked or if there is a syntax error in the parameters defined to a view, correct the error by performing the following steps:

  1. Access view customization by typing CUST in the COMMAND field and pressing ENTER.

  2. Type P and press ENTER to see the current parameter specifications for the view.

  3. Change these specifications by typing over any values.

  4. Type H and the column identifier for the field from which the hyperlink was invoked to see the current hyperlink specifications for the field.

  5. Change these specifications by typing over any values.
