Fix pack 1 (10.5.00.01) for BMC PATROL Installation Utility fixes two defects and adds new platform support.

This Fix pack can be applied only on the Infrastructure Management-PATROL Repository versions 10.5.00 or 10.5.01

Note

After you apply the Fix pack, all PATROL Repository deployment methods are affected.


Defects fixed

QM002184115: The common installer fails to install PATROL Agent as a user with root privileges when the executable does not exist in the /usr/local/bin/ directory.

QM002184117: The common installer fails to install when a sudo user is configured to work without a password prompt. 

Support for new platforms

The BMC PATROL Installation Utility now supports the following platforms:

  • Windows Server 2016
  • Windows Server Core 2016
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux version 7.3
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack 2
  • Oracle Enterprise Linux 7.3 x86_64
  • Debian 8.5, 8.6 x86_64
  • Ubuntu 16.04, x86_64

To apply the Fix pack 

TrueSight Presentation Server

  1. Log on to the Presentation Server host by using remote desktop (Windows) or SSH (Linux).
  2. From Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website, download the Fix pack file ins_ALL_1050001.zip for Windows or ins_ALL_1050001.tar for Linux.
  3. Run the following command from the installationDirectory\truesightpserver\bin folder to stop the Presentation Server:
    tssh server stop
  4. Create a backup of the Installer directory before applying the Fix pack.

    For example: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\TrueSightPServer\truesightpserver\modules\cma\pproxy\depot_directory\bmc_products\Installer

  5. Extract the downloaded Fix pack file to the depot directory.

    For example: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\TrueSightPServer\truesightpserver\modules\cma\pproxy\depot_directory

  6. Run the following command from the installationDirectory\truesightpserver\bin folder to restart the Presentation Server:
    tssh server start

BMC Proactivenet Server

  1. Log on to the BMC ProactiveNet Server host by using remote desktop (Windows) or SSH (Linux).
  2. From Electronic Product Distribution (EPD) website, download the Fix pack file ins_ALL_1050001.zip for Windows or ins_ALL_1050001.tar for Linux.
  3. Run the following pw command from the ProactiveNet\pw\pronto\bin folder to stop the ProactiveNet Server:
    pw server stop

  4. Create a backup of the Installer directory before applying the Fix pack.

    For example: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ProactiveNet\pw\pproxy\depot_directory\bmc_products\Installer

  5. Extract the downloaded Fix pack file to the depot directory.

    For example: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\ProactiveNet\pw\pproxy\depot_directory

  6. Run the following pw command from the ProactiveNet\pw\pronto\bin folder to restart the ProactiveNet Server:
    pw server start
