Huawei OceanStor V3 and V5 Storage Systems

Huawei OceanStor V3 and V5 storage systems are discovered via the SMI-S Provider which is either embedded or installed independently on a Windows or a Linux server. Therefore the storage system can be discovered by scanning the storage device or by scanning the host on which the SMI-S provider is installed.

As part of routine discovery, when the Huawei OceanStor Embedded Device Manager is encountered, a Huawei OceanStor storage device node is automatically added to the BMC Discovery infrastructure.  The management software is interrogated to discover any storage entities that it is managing. Once discovered, the storage entities are modeled in BMC Discovery.

Note: It is recommended to use the proxy SMI-S Provider to manage multiple arrays, if needed.
