Downloading the files

The BMC Analytics for BSM installation program includes the latest service packs and patches. If you just installed the product for the first time, you do not need to apply service packs or patches before you begin using the product. When new service packs and patches are released for BMC Analytics for BSM, you will perform an upgrade of the product to apply the latest changes. You can find information about service packs and patches under What's new.

  1. Create a directory in which to place the downloaded files.

    Note

On Windows computers, ensure that the directory is only one level into the directory structure. The EPD package creates a directory in the temporary directory when you extract the files, and the directory that contains the installation image should not be in a directory deeper than two levels into the directory structure.

  2. Go to http://www.bmc.com/available/epd.html.
  3. At the logon prompt, enter your user ID and password, and click Submit.
  4. On the Export Compliance and Access Terms page, provide the required information, agree to the terms of the agreements, and click Continue.
  5. If you are accessing this site for the first time, create an EPD profile to specify the languages and platforms that you want to see, per the EPD site help; otherwise, skip to step 6.
  6. Verify that the correct profile is displayed for your download purpose, and select the Licensed Products tab.
  7. Expand BMC Analytics for BSM to show the available versions.
  8. Expand BMC Analytics for BSM 7.6.06 for the appropriate platform and language.
  9. Expand one of the following items:
    • BMC Analytics for BSM 7.6.06
    • BMC Atrium Single Sign-On 8.0.00
    • SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform

If you are downloading SAP BusinessObjects, ensure that all of the files you download are included in the same directory.

  10. Select the check boxes next to the files and documents that you want to download.
  11. Click Download (FTP) or Download Manager:
    • Download (FTP) places the selected items in an FTP directory, and the credentials and FTP instructions are sent to you in an email message.
    • Download Manager enables you to download multiple files consecutively and to resume an interrupted download if the connection drops.
This method requires a one-time installation of the Akamai NetSession client program on the target computer and is usually the faster and more reliable way to transfer files. A checksum operation is used to verify file integrity automatically.
  12. Repeat these steps to download all of the required applications.
If you are downloading SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise, you must concatenate the files, as discussed in the section below.

Concatenating the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise files

Since there are multiple files for SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise, you must concatenate them before performing the installation. Use the following steps.

  1. Ensure that all of the SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise files are in the same directory.
  2. Execute the file with the .exe extension, for example, 51043403_part1.exe.
All of the files are concatenated, and a new directory is created. For Solaris, the directory name is 51043403.

Where to go from here

Carefully review the system requirements for your platform and other tasks necessary for setting up the installation environment. You must perform these tasks before you launch the installation program.

For installation instructions, see Performing the installation.

  5. We downloaded the

BSM_7606_Analytics-Linux.tar file to our Linux box from the EPD site.

When triggered the 51046021_part1.exe on command prompt, we see the foll error:

51046021_part1.exe : cannot execute [Exec format error]

Did anyone else got the same error? whats the resolution steps? Is the file corrupted?

    1. Hi Pramod,

The detailed instructions are available at this link: Installing SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.0 or SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.1.

You can also check the related blog on BMC Communities here:

      1. Hi Ashiwini,
Thanks a lot for swift response. We followed exactly the same steps as mentioned in the document under the Linux section https://communities.bmc.com/docs/DOC-37255.

When we run the set.sh file we see the below error:

We need to install SAP BO Web Tier in Red Hat linux servers for our Production environment.

We had successfully installed CMS Application server in windows but the separate web tier should be installed on Linux machines.

Our issue is when we run ./setup.sh . Installation gets aborted immediately with the error:

        /setup.engine/setupengine: line 21:10658 Aborted Core Dumped $SetupEngineBinDir$

        1.  Hello Pramod,

For the mixed platforms, you need to download both platform specific builds and installable files. Using Windows build files on Linux will not work. Make sure you Linux is also 64 bit version.

Below is how you can proceed -

          • Download the Linux build of the same SAP BO version which is installed on Windows system.
          • Extract the contents of Linux files (following steps provided in document) within the Windows machine.
          • Copy\Transfer the setup directory to Linux machine and run /setup.sh
          • Use custom installation option and select only Web Tier.
          • Provide the CMS name of the Windows machine which is already installed.

If you still have the issues following above steps, then it would be better to raise a BMC Support ticket for investigation and troubleshooting further.

          Regards,

          Abhay
