Product content TKU 2023-Aug-1

Technology Knowledge Update TKU 2023-Aug-1 contains additional product content for the BMC Discovery 12.0, 20.08, 21.05, 21.3, 22.1, 22.2, and 23.1 series.

Product content updates require appliance restart

This TKU release contains product content additions. The appliance is restarted when product content is added to the update. You can prevent the restart, but none of the knowledge content will be installed if you do so.

Feature updates

The following features and enhancements are introduced within the scope of this release: 

  1. CLOUD/AWS: Added manufacturer information for the AdminCollection and CloudManagementGroup nodes. For more details, see (DRDC1-21486).
  2. CLOUD/AWS: Added support for the Amazon Virtual Private Cloud gateways. For more details, see (DRDC1-13634) and the documentation here.
  3. CLOUD/AWS: Added vm_name and vm_type attributes of AWS WorkSpace VirtualMachine nodes. For more details, see (DRDC1-21485) and the documentation here.
  4. CLOUD/AWS: Updated AWS patterns to populate the 'iscloud' attribute. For more details, see (DRDC1-20876) and the documentation here.
  5. CLOUD/AZURE: Added a relationship between the Wallix Session Manager device and virtual machine hosted on Microsoft Azure. For more details, see (DRDC1-21448) and the documentation here.
  6. CLOUD/OCI: Fixed an issue with incorrectly discovered Oracle Cloud Infrastructure databases. For more details, see (DRDC1-21519) and the documentation here.
  7. HOST: Added support for the aging feature for the hosts discovered through the API provider. For more details, see (DRDC1-20380).
  8. HOST: Enhanced the discovery script of the EC2 host model. For more details, see (DRDC1-21370).
  9. HOST: Improved the discovery of Ubuntu servers. For more details, see (DRDC1-21484).
  10. STORAGE: Added full support for the HPE StoreOnce storage device discovery. For more details, see (DRDC1-21493) and the documentation here.
  11. STORAGE: Added support for the discovery of Ceph storage systems directly as a storage device by using the Ceph API access. For more details, see (DRDC1-20802) and documentation here.
  12. STORAGE: Added support for IBM Spectrum Control storage systems through IBM Spectrum Control. For more details, see (DRDC1-21160) and the documentation here.
  13. STORAGE: Enhanced the discovery of IBM DS8000 Storage Systems. For more details, see (DRDC1-21520, DRDC1-21576) and the documentation here.
  14. STORAGE: Enhanced the discovery of Pure Storage FlashArray Storage Systems by increasing the timeout of the REST API request. For more details, see (DRDC1-21559) and the documentation here.
  15. VAULT: Added an ability to customize the username format in CyberArk credentials. For more details, see (DRUD1-40301) and the documentation here.

Defects

The following defect was fixed within the scope of this release: 

  1. CLOUD/OPENSTACK: Fixed an issue with non-discovered load balancer services upon the first OpenStack scan. For more details, see (DRDC1-21552) and the documentation here.
  2. HOST: Added a relationship between BMC_PRODUCT and BMC_SOFTWARESERVER for RuntimeEnvironment to fix a CMDB sync issue. For more details, see (DRDC1-21546).
  3. HOST: Enhanced the getProcessList platform script for Solaris. For more details, see (DRDC1-21594).
  4. HOST/POWERSHELL: Added a fix for the PowerShell command output (CimInstance) parsing issue. For more details, see DRUD1-41832).

Changes to discovery commands

Discovery commands are unchanged in Product Content 2023-Aug-1.

Model changes

Taxonomy has been updated for:

  1. EOL: Taxonomy has been updated to add visibility to the Retirement Date defaulted to EOS date attribute in the SupportDetail node's summary. For more details, see (DRDC1-20730).
  2. NETWORK DEVICES: Taxonomy has been updated to add a relationship from the ManagementController node to the SupportDetail node. For more details, see (DRDC1-21551).
  3. STORAGE DEVICES: Taxonomy has been updated to add a StorageDevice relationship to the Detail node. For more details, see (DRDC1-21480).
