Installing the CyberArk Credential Provider on an Outpost

To integrate BMC Discovery with CyberArk Vault, you need to install the CyberArk Credential Provider, also known as the Credential Provider on the BMC Discovery Outpost, and then configure the connection to the CyberArk Vault. The CyberArk Credential Provider is a component of the CyberArk Vault.

Before you begin

Before you begin installing the CyberArk Credential Provider, make sure that the following requirements are completed:

  • You must have a CyberArk Vault installed and configured in your environment.
  • You must have created an administrator-level provider user, that has access to the required vaults (safes) in CyberArk. 
  • You must have the CyberArk Credential Provider installer ready. This is one of AAM-Windows32-Rls-v10.10.14.zip or AAM-Windows32-Rls-v12.4.1.zip. The installer can be downloaded from the CyberArk support site Open link .

  • You must have the  Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable Packages for Visual Studio 2013 Open link for 32 and 64 bit systems installed.

To install and configure the CyberArk Credential Provider

On the computer on which the Outpost is running, perform the following steps to install the CyberArk Credential Provider.

You might be prompted to restart your computer during the installation. It is important that you do so.

  1. Double-click the CyberArk Credential Provider installer package. The Welcome screen is displayed.
  2. Click Next to proceed.
    The License Agreement screen is displayed.
  3. Click Yes to accept the agreement.
    The Customer Information screen is displayed.
  4. Enter your name and company and click Next to continue.
    The Installation type screen is displayed.
  5. Select Custom. The default installation folder is C:\Program Files (x86)\CyberArk. You can retain the default folder or specify a new installation folder. Click Next to continue.
    The Application provider configuration screen is displayed.


  6. Select or enter the following information:

    Setting

    Description

    Cache level

    Select Persistent from the drop-down menu.

    Refresh cache every

    Keep the default setting of three minutes.

    Configuration safe name

    Keep the auto-populated setting.

    Configuration file name

    Keep the auto-populated setting.

    Overwrite configuration file, if exists

    Select this option if you are reinstalling the provider.

    Provider user name

    The auto-populated user name comprises Prov_ and the hostname. Keep this name and make a note of this as it must be added to a group in the CyberArk server. The group must provide sufficient privileges to access the CyberArk vault and query credentials.

  7. Click Next to continue. 
    The Vault's Connection Details screen is displayed. 
  8. Enter the address and port of the CyberArk Vault and click Next to continue.
    The Vault's Username and Password screen is displayed.
  9. Enter the username and password for the vault user you intend to use, and click Next to continue.
  10. Click Finish to complete the installation.
