Viewing a database

A database node in BMC Discovery represents a logical database. Databases are set up automatically by the BMC Discovery process.

Before BMC Discovery 11.2 databases were modeled using database detail nodes. Logical databases are now stored in dedicated Database nodes allowing simple separation of databases from other database details.

To view a database

  1. From the main menu, select Explore > Data.
  2.  In the Software & Databases section, click Databases.
  3. Select a database from the list.
    The details of the database that you selected are displayed in a new page, as displayed in the following screenshot.

The information fields for a typical database are described in the following table:

Field name

Details

Name

Name of this database.

Type

Type of database, for example, DB2.

Trigger Count

The number of triggers set in this database.

Software Instance

Software instance of this database node.

Maintaining PatternThe pattern that maintains this database.
CloudWhether this database is hosted in a cloud
Cloud classThe cloud class in which this database is hosted. For example, Elastic Standard.
InstanceName of the database instance.
Logical Database TypeType of this database. For example, SQL Server Database.
Short NameShort name of this database.
