Changing client functionality options

Within BMC MyIT, you can enable and disable features that you might not want to use immediately in your deployment. For example, if you are not set up to support location services, you can disable that functionality. You can also configure the settings for features such as App Store cross launch and Content Locker cross launch.

You can enable or disable the following features:

AppointmentsEnable end users to schedule appointments with the help desk.You configure this feature on the Help Desk tab of the BMC MyIT Administration Console. See Setting up calendars.
ApprovalsEnables end users to approve requests for which they are approvers.Approvals are set up through the BMC Approval Server and BMC Remedy ITSM applications. If you have a BMC MyIT server cluster, you must configure one server as the master server. Notifications are sent by the master server. To configure the master server, in the connect.properties file on that server, set  master.server  to true.
AppZoneEnables end users to access your internal App Store as a separate tab. If you enable this option, the AppZone icon appears on end users' devices.To configure the connection to BMC AppZone, you must set the values for the three appZone parameters. See Configuring the BMC AppZone integration.
AppZone Items in CatalogEnables end users to access items from your internal App Store within the Catalog.To configure the connection to BMC AppZone, you must set the values for the three appZone parameters. See Configuring the BMC AppZone integration. To make App Zone items available within the Catalog, you must add them to catalog sections. See Setting up sections in the Catalog
CatalogEnables the Catalog from which users can make requests.

To configure the Catalog, see Setting up sections in the Catalog. You can configure the Catalog requests and knowledge articles from a variety of sources. The catalog can include requests from IT and HR, to include items from BMC MyIT Service Broker or BMC AppZone, to include VMs from BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management, and to include knowledge articles from IT and HR.

Note: The Appointments feature depends on the self-serve features: disabling both Catalog and Support also disables Appointments.

Contact IT buttonEnable the Contact IT button on the Support tab. Show contact information for key departments or personnel in your IT resource pool.To configure the information displayed when users click Contact IT, see Setting up the help desk.
Content Locker cross launchEnables end users to access the Secure Content Locker. If you enable this option, a  Content Locker  icon appears on end users' devices.Edit the URL for the Content Locker cross launch option.
Crowd Sourced AssetsEnables end users to create assets from a floor map, including setting their name, type, description, and location. This change does not affect users' ability to check in or make reservations for an asset.You must also allow users to create assets for each asset type.. For more information about allowing users to create an asset type, see Adding and editing asset types.
Include request ID on 'Request Again'Enables the original request ID to be included in a new request that is generated by a user selecting Request Again.No additional configuration.
LocationEnables features linked to the Location Management tab of the BMC MyIT Administration Console.See Setting up locations.
My StuffThe My Stuff tab lists the services that the self-service user is following and displays the health of these services. This tab also displays the self-service user's requested items that come from BMC MyIT Service Broker.See Setting up services and Setting up service requests through BMC MyIT Service Broker.
Service HealthEnables features linked to the Services tab of the BMC MyIT Administration Console. Self-service users see service health on the My Stuff tab of the BMC MyIT client applications. If you enable Service Health, to make this information available to self-service users, you must also enable My Stuff. See Setting up services.
Service Broker IntegrationEnables integration with BMC MyIT Service Broker.You must also configure details about the integration. See Setting up service requests through BMC MyIT Service Broker.
SupportEnables end users to submit service requests and make appointments with the Help Desk.

You configure contact information and appointments on the Help Desk tab of the BMC MyIT Administration Console. See Setting up the help desk.

Note: The Appointments feature depends on the self-serve features: disabling both Catalog and Support also disables Appointments.

User Profile Data EditingEnable end users to update their profile data from BMC MyIT.No additional configuration required.
VA ChatEnables end users to launch BMC Virtual Agent from BMC MyIT.You configure this feature on the VA Chat Configuration tab.

To change client features and landing page

  1. On the Configuration tab of the BMC MyIT Administration Console (http://BMCMyITserver:port/ux/admin), click Enable Features.

  2. To choose which options are enabled or disabled, select or clear the associated check boxes in the Features table.
    The options are saved.

    Some features might have additional custom attributes. For example, some cross-launch features might have their own URL attribute, which you can edit and save when you select that feature. (See the sections that follow.)
  3. To choose the landing page, select the associated radio button in the Landing Page column of the Features table.

Note

If a client feature is enabled or disabled, users must restart the client application.

To edit the URL for the Content Locker cross launch option

  1. On the Configuration tab of the BMC MyIT Administration Console (http://BMCMyITserver:port/ux/admin), click Enable Features.
  2. In the Features table, click the Content Locker cross launch cell.
  3. In the URL field that appears, enter a URL that points to your Content Locker.
    The BMC Mobile Device Management SCL Application URL use the format: awscl://
  4. Click Save.

    Note

    Users must restart the client application to see this option on their devices.
