Precreating an Oracle database

This topic describes how to precreate an Oracle database.

Note

BMC Digital Workplace uses the Users tablespace and the TEMP tablespace. Each schema requires 20 MB.

Before you begin

Complete the Installation worksheets for Digital Workplace.

To precreate the Oracle database

  1. Use the following script to create the users and grant the necessary roles:

    create user DWP_Business identified by DWP default tablespace USERS temporary tablespace TEMP quota unlimited on USERS;

    create user DWP_System identified by DWP default tablespace USERS temporary tablespace TEMP quota unlimited on USERS;

    grant create sequence, create table, create view, create session to DWP_Business;

    grant create sequence, create table, create view, create session to DWP_System;

  2. On your installation worksheet, specify the database name, users, and passwords. The password must be from 5 to 30 symbols in length, not contain %, @, ! or & and start from a letter.

When you run the installer, select the Use Precreated DB option in the RDBMS Selection window. Therefore, you do not need to enter system credentials.

Important

Do not remove the users after installing BMC Digital Workplace because these user accounts store all the BMC Digital Workplace data.

    Hi everyone

    I just input the first line on the SQL Plus console and got the ORA-00922: missing or invalid option. After some research on the internet I found this link http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_ora_00922_missing_or_invalid_option.htm stating the following:

    "Correcting ORA-00992 consists of correcting the syntax in your specifications, minding to take out the erroneous option or length specification from the storage of column specification. "

    Does someone have got the same error than me? Did anyone figure out where the possible error is?

    Thank you for your assistance. Kind regards Pedro
