Updates
(optional) Data cleanup utility
This patch includes a data cleanup utility. Use this utility to remove all the additional configuration files, providers, and old RDBMS schemas, after migrating your social data from the MongoDB, and upgrading BMC Digital Workplace and Smart IT (if used).
Social data migration performance improvement
After you install this patch, the time required to migrate your social data from the MongoDB to the relational database is reduced. Use the migration utility provided with the patch for migrating your social data.
Improved logs for the social data migration
After you install this patch, additional information about the migration of social data from MongoDB to your relational database is available in the log files. This information is useful while analyzing the log files.

Patch installation files
The following table provide links to the page in the EPD website that contains the patch files for this product. From the EPD page you can select and download the patch files for your platform. Access to the EPD website requires that you provide your BMC Support credentials. You might also be prompted to complete the Export Compliance Form.

To apply the patch
If you upgraded to 18.05 from a previous version of BMC Digital Workplace, follow all the steps given below. If you did a fresh installation of BMC Digital Workplace 18.05, skip to Step 5.
- Stop the BMC Digital Workplace Tomcat service.
- Take a backup of your existing data.
- Copy the following folders:
- From your Tomcat installation directory copy \external-conf\dwp\provider.
- From your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, copy \dwp\social2 and \dwp.
- Copy the following folders:
- Delete existing files and replace it with the files from the patch.
- Delete the following folders:
- From your Tomcat installation directory, delete \external-conf\dwp\provider.
- From your Tomcat installation directory, delete the contents of the Work folder.
- From your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, delete \dwp.
- From your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, delete \social2.
- (For BMC Digital Workplace Basic version installations) From your BMC Digital Workplaceinstallation directory, delete \admin.
- Create the following folders:
- Navigate to your <Tomcat installation directory>\external-conf\dwp, and create the provider folder.
- Navigate to your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, and create the dwp folder.
- Navigate to your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, and create the social2 folder.
- Rename the following folders:
- (For BMC Digital Workplace Basic version installations) Navigate to your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, and rename the admin_base folder to admin.
- Extract the following files from the installer you downloaded from the EPD website to the folders you created:
- Navigate to your Tomcat installation directory, and extract 18.05.00.001\backend_social_builds\provider.zip to the provider folder
- Navigate to your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, and extract 18.05.00.001\backend_social_builds\dwp.zip to the dwp folder.
- Navigate to your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, and extract 18.05.00.001\backend_social_builds\social2.zip to the social2 folder.
- Delete the following folders:
- Start the BMC Digital Workplace Tomcat service.
- (Fresh 18.05 install only) If you installed BMC Digital Workplace 18.05, and did not upgrade from a previous version, use Developer Studio to import the 18.05.00.001\workflows_fresh_only\myit-chg-91.def definition file to the Remedy ITSM server. For more information, see

(optional) To use the cleanup utility
Use this utility only after you have upgraded BMC Digital Workplace and Smart IT to version 18.05.
- Stop the BMC Digital Workplace Tomcat service.
- Navigate to 18.05.00.001\cleanup_tool and extract the cleanup1805-18.05.00.001-BUILD-SNAPSHOT-bin.zip to a folder in your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory.
- Type ./cleanup.sh --help to view help with using the utility.
- To cleanup the BMC Digital Workplace server provide the path of your BMC Digital Workplace Tomcat server and BMC Digital Workplace installation directory
For example, ./cleanup.sh --tomcat-home /opt/apache/tomcat8.x/ --myit-smartit-home /opt/bmc/DWP/. - To cleanup the BMC Digital Workplace database from a remote virtual machine:
- Update the db.properties file with your BMC Digital Workplace database server and user details.
- Type ./cleanup.sh --clean-db-only
- Start the BMC Digital Workplace Tomcat service.

Patch implementation step 3.d doesn't match with the patch files provided. There is no rar or war files in the patch (for windows). Kindly update the doc correctly.

Hi! I think this frase is misleading: "From your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, delete \dwp\social2" This should read "From your BMC Digital Workplace installation directory, delete \social2" (without \dwp)
