Obtaining BMC Remedy license keys
This topic describes how to obtain a product license key that you can apply after you install BMC Digital Workplace Catalog. You must obtain a product license key to activate a license for BMC Digital Workplace Catalog that is separate from the other BMC Digital Workplace Advanced licenses referred to in License entitlements.
Before you begin
After you have registered an account on BMC Support Central, use the self-service Remedy Action Request System (AR System) generator to request a BMC Digital Workplace Catalog server license key.
Your contract entitles you to the following license levels, which are required to run BMC Digital Workplace Catalog.
License type required
AR Server license
You must license the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog server by applying an AR System server license. A product license key is attached to the specific host ID, or MAC address, of the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog server. If you have installed BMC Digital Workplace Catalog in a clustered environment for high availability, you must find the host ID for each server, and request a license key for each server individually.
Fixed user licenses
Before you can use the entitlement features and enable administrative users to log in to manage the catalog, you must assign the appropriate number of fixed user licenses. Every user who has an administrative role and can log in to BMC Digital Workplace Catalog must be counted towards the total number of fixed licenses.
In contrast, BMC Digital Workplace end users who only view and request services from the catalog do not need to be counted towards the number of fixed licenses. Instead, end users must be added to the database with a minimum of a Read license.
License key types
You can request either a Temporary or a Permanent product license key depending on the information you provide when you request the license key. The following table shows the different information required to request a specific license key type.

To find the host ID on a Linux server
