Entitlements for Asset Managers

Service Catalog Administrators and Asset Managers create Virtual Marketplaces as a means to link users and groups to the services they are entitled to. Virtual Marketplace entitlements show or hide a service catalog item when a BMC MyIT user searches for it.

Creating a virtual marketplace

To create a new virtual marketplace entitlement group:

  1. Go to Entitlements.
  2. Click New Virtual Marketplace.

  3. Enter a Virtual Marketplace Name and click Create.

  4. In the Edit Virtual Marketplace panel, add Users, Groups, Services, and Administrators for this virtual marketplace.

Renaming a virtual marketplace

To edit an existing virtual marketplace:

  1. Click beside an existing virtual marketplace and click Edit to open it.
  2. Edit the Name.
  3. Click Save to update the name.

Adding and removing services

To add services to a virtual marketplace:

  1. Click beside an existing virtual marketplace and click Edit to open it.

  2. Under Services, Click Service Catalog to find available service catalog items to add. Use the Search tool as necessary.

  3. Select the service catalog items to add, then click Add. The services are added immediately.

To remove services from a virtual marketplace:

  1. Under Services, Click Manage to view the service catalog items currently assigned to the Virtual Marketplace.

  2. Select the service catalog items to remove.
  3. Click Remove.
    The service catalog items are removed immediately from the Virtual Marketplace. The service catalog items remain in the service catalog.

Adding and removing entitled users

To entitle services to BMC MyIT end users:

  1. Click beside an existing virtual marketplace and click Edit to open it.

  2. Under Users, Click User Directory to find users to add. Use the Search and Filter tools as necessary.

    User Directory

    The User Directory contains the list of users imported into BMC MyIT Service Broker.

  3. Select the users to add, then click Add. The users are added immediately.

To remove users from a virtual marketplace entitlement group:

  1. Under Users, Click Manage to view the users currently assigned to the Virtual Marketplace.

  2. Select the users to remove.
  3. Click Remove.
    The users are removed immediately from the Virtual Marketplace. The users remain in the user list.

Adding and removing entitled users by groups

Group entitlement is possible only when the user database of BMC MyIT Service Broker is synchronized with BMC Remedy IT Service Management.

The groups imported into BMC MyIT Service Broker are set up by Company - Organization - Department. When you entitle groups to be able to view and request services, all members of the groups are entitled to view and request those services.

Sharing the responsibility for maintaining virtual marketplaces

To add additional virtual marketplace administrators:

  1. Click beside an existing virtual marketplace and click Edit to open it.

  2. Under Administrators, Click User Directory to find administrators to add. Use the Search and Filter tools as necessary.

    User Directory (Administrators)

    The User Directory contains the list of users with the appropriate permissions to manage virtual marketplaces.

  3. Select the users to add, then click Add. The Asset Managers are added immediately.

To remove virtual marketplace administrators:

  1. Under Administrators, click beside a name and confirm to remove.

  2. Repeat for all administrators to remove.
