Quick start for asset managers

As an asset manager, your primary responsibility is to manage entitlements for the users in your organization. Entitlements ensure that users have access to the services they need to do their work. As an asset manager, you perform the following tasks:

  • Create virtual marketplace entitlement groups to contain items such as services, bundles, and promotional banners.
  • Assign users to virtual marketplaces, which entitle them to view and request the items in the BMC Digital Workplace end user console.
  • Invite other administrators to help you entitle published services, bundles, and banners to BMC Digital Workplace users.

Basic concepts for asset managers

A virtual marketplace determines entitlements for a set of services. The entitlements assigned through virtual marketplaces control which services users can view and request from BMC Digital Workplace Catalog.

What you can do as an asset manager

As an asset manager, you can perform the following tasks in BMC Digital Workplace Catalog:

Create and maintain virtual marketplace entitlement groups

As a catalog administrator, asset manager, or internal supplier, you must create entitlement rules called virtual marketplaces to entitle end users to published services, service bundles, and banners.

Distribute services to virtual marketplaces

After virtual marketplaces have been created, an asset manager can distribute published services and bundles to existing virtual marketplaces from the Catalog page:
