Product announcements
This topic presents announcements that might impact future releases of the product. These changes can impact the way in which you configure or run the installed version of BMC Digital Workplace.
iOS push notifications support in BMC Digital Workplace
The Apple Push Notification service (APNs) will no longer support the legacy binary protocol as of March 31, 2021. For more information, see
Apple Push Notification Service Update
.
As a result, iOS push notifications in BMC Digital Workplace version 20.02 or earlier will not work after March 31, 2021. To keep receiving iOS push notifications, we recommend the following:
- If you are using BMC Digital Workplace version 20.02, upgrade to BMC Digital Workplace 20.02 Patch 1 (20.02.01).
- If you are using BMC Digital Workplace version 19.05 to 19.11, we recommend that you upgrade to BMC Digital Workplace 20.02 Patch 1 (20.02.01). However, you can also download and apply the cumulative hot fix. Cumulative hot fixes for BMC Digital Workplace version 19.05 to 20.02 are currently available at the FTP location listed in
Knowledge Article 000164912
.
- If you are using BMC Digital Workplace 18.11 and earlier, we recommend that you upgrade to BMC Digital Workplace 20.02 Patch 1 (20.02.01).
The Apple iOS and Google Android clients were deprecated with version 19.02 and removed with version 19.05 of BMC Digital Workplace. The Progressive Web App introduced in BMC Helix Digital Workplace version 19.02 replaced these native clients. Apple iOS users who need the capability to receive push notifications and scan QR codes are required to use the BMC Helix Digital Workplace app available from the App Store.
Deprecation of support for Microsoft Internet Explorer 11
Starting with the 21.02 release (targeted for February 2021), BMC will not support the use of Microsoft Internet Explorer version 11 with BMC Digital Workplace. For a complete list of BMC products that will no longer support Internet Explorer 11, see the
BMC Customer Support Communities page
.
As technology continues to advance, it has become more challenging to resolve browser-specific issues related to Internet Explorer 11. We may attempt to fix some issues related to that version, but some features may not work as expected.
Because of security compromises and performance issues, we recommend that you do not use Internet Explorer 11. Instead, we encourage you to switch to other fully supported browsers.
BMC will still support Internet Explorer 11 on releases of BMC products prior to version 21.02 where Internet Explorer 11 was already supported.
Important
Microsoft still supports Internet Explorer 11 on some operating systems (including Microsoft Windows 8.1 and 10 and Windows Server 2012 and 2016). For more information, see the Microsoft
Lifecycle FAQ - Internet Explorer and Edge
page.

It was used to get insights on search behavior to help with the personalization of BMC Digital Workplace and market research. |
Basic authentication for Microsoft Exchange | Starting October 1, 2022, Microsoft deprecated basic authentication for Microsoft Exchange. Customers need to migrate to OAuth2 authentication. To enable OAuth2 authentication for the Microsoft Exchange pluggable provider in BMC Digital Workplace, in the provider settings, select the Enable OAuth2 check box, and enter the Client ID, Client Secret, Exchange Tenant ID, and URL.
