Creating people groups for end-user collaboration


As a BMC Digital Workplace Catalog administrator, you can create, manage, and remove people groups for service request collaboration. Such groups may consist of individual users (if you want to select specific user accounts) and people groups (if you want to retrieve groups with multiple user accounts). You can also configure the visibility rule for the people groups that end users can add as collaborators.

Before you begin

Before creating people groups, make sure you are familiar with end-user collaboration in BMC Digital Workplace, see Collaborating-with-users-on-service-requests and Enabling-service-request-collaboration.

To add individual users to a people group

  1. In the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog catalog, select People > People Groups.
  2. Click New Group and create the group, or select an existing group by selecting Actions > Open.
  3. Next to Users, click Add.
  4. Select the users you want to add, and click Add.

You can also search users in the search box at the top of the User Directory pane.

Warning

Important

Only users with the Enabled profile status in Remedy ITSM are available for search.

To add multiple users by attributes

  1. In the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog catalog, select People > People Groups.
  2. Click New Group and create the group, or select an existing group by selecting Actions > Open.
  3. Next to Attributes, click Add and select one of the following tabs:
    • ITSM Core
    • Other Fields

a. Expand the available categories as needed.
b. Select the attributes that you want to assign, and click Save.

(Version 20.02.03 and later) You can use the Support Organization category to add Remedy ITSM support groups that can be used as collaborator groups.

Warning

Important

ITSM Core attributes with no values are displayed as labels in the attributes tree.

(Version 20.02.01 and later) To set the visibility of a people group

  1. In the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog console, select People > People Groups.
  2. Click New Group and create the group, or select an existing group by selecting Actions > Open.
  3. Select one of the values from the Group Visibility section:

    • Everyone—Allows all users to add this group as a collaborator to their service requests.
    • Group Members—Allows users belonging to the group to add this group as a collaborator to their service requests.
    • Custom—Add users (individual or by attribute) who can add this group as a collaborator to their service requests.
    Warning

    Important

    • Remedy ITSM administrators will be able to view all the groups.
    • End users must refresh their browser for group changes to take effect.
