Company-level access to subtenants in BMC Digital Workplace
This topic describes subtenants in BMC Digital Workplace and permissions required for accessing subtenants' data and configuration.
Multitenancy and access to data
In BMC Remedy ITSM, you can configure multitenancy for data that comes from BMC Remedy ITSM, such as users and service request definitions (SRDs). When users are set up, they are granted access to data for one or more companies. For data that is maintained in BMC Remedy ITSM (such as SRDs), the same access is provided in BMC Digital Workplace with no additional configuration. For example, if you create separate SRDs for the Calbro and Acme companies, and grant Bob Backline access only to the Calbro company, he can see and request SRDs only from the Calbro company.
BMC Digital Workplace also provides the following configuration in BMC Remedy ITSM:
- Quick-pick lists of SRD catalog items that appear on the Catalog tab

Company-level access to subtenants in BMC Digital Workplace
By default, BMC Digital Workplace has a single master tenant.
If a system administrator has added at least one subtenant to the default master tenant, the BMC Digital Workplace becomes multitenant, and users get access only to the BMC Digital Workplace configuration data of the company to which they are assigned in Remedy IT Service Management on the People form (on the Company field of the General tab).
The following diagram illustrates company-level access to subtenants in BMC Digital Workplace.

For example, if Joe Unser, an end user, who is assigned to the Calbro company on the People form, has access to how-to links and locations configured for Calbro, but not to the how-to links and locations configured for Acme. This also applies to the BMC Digital Workplace Admin console—if Joe Unser has MyIT Admin permissions for BMC Digital Workplace , he can configure how-to links and locations only for the Calbro company.
At the same time, Allen Allbrook who is assigned to the Calbro company and has the permissions of MyIT Super Admin for BMC Digital Workplace, can configure how-to links and locations for both companies—Calbro and Acme.
Note
Although subtenants are isolated from each other, the Providers settings are shared between all subtenants, and only the master tenant administrators with MyIT Admin permissions can configure providers settings in the BMC Digital Workplace Admin console. Click Configuration > Applications Features and configure the settings available in the Providers table .
