20.02.02: Patch 2
Review the fixes and updates in this patch in BMC Digital Workplace 20.02.02 that might impact your users.
Disable in-app notifications
End users can disable in-app notifications by going to Preferences > Notification settings. When end users resume in-app notifications, they receive missed in-app notifications.
For more information, see Enabling end user features and Configuration options for the end user console.
Hide URLs to how-to resources and quick links
The BMC Digital Workplace administrator can hide the URL to how-to resources and quick links on the Catalog tab and in search results.
The following screenshot illustrates the difference between versions earlier than 20.02.01 and version 20.02.02:
For more information, see Enabling end user features.
Display service description in approval request details
The BMC Digital Workplace administrator can enable showing the service description in the approval details by using the Approval Configuration page:
For more information, see Configuring how approval requests are displayed in BMC Digital Workplace end user console.
Configure the view of the application chooser page for shared links
In earlier versions of BMC Digital Workplace, when opening a shared link in BMC Digital Workplace, end users were prompted to select a browser or an iOS wrapper app. In this version, the BMC Digital Workplace administrator can disable the application chooser page so that shared links are automatically opened in a browser. This option can be used if the end user does not have an iOS wrapper app installed.
This end user feature is listed in the BMC Digital Workplace Admin console:
For more information, see Enabling end user features.
Push and email notifications for collaborator groups
Members of collaborator groups can receive push and email notifications when the following events occur:
- Comment on the shared request
- Update of the shared request status
This end user feature is listed in the BMC Digital Workplace Admin console:
In earlier versions of BMC Digital Workplace, in push and email notifications, the service requester could see only the quantity of individual users and their names. In this version, the service requester can also see the quantity of collaborator groups (push and email notifications) and their names (only push notifications):
For more information, see Enabling end user features and Enabling service request collaboration.
BMC Helix Platform page and external page in a new tab
In BMC Digital Workplace version 18.08 and above, the BMC Digital Workplace administrator could add and configure BMC Helix Platform pages and external pages so that they opened in the BMC Digital Workplace end user console in an iFrame. In version 20.02.02, the BMC Digital Workplace administrator can select the way in which these pages are displayed:
- In an iFrame (default view) in the BMC Digital Workplace end user console
- In a new tab
The following table shows the difference between the feature behavior in versions earlier than 20.02.01 and in version 20.02.02:
Versions earlier than 20.02.01 | Version 20.02.02 |
---|---|
For more information, see Embedding custom pages from BMC Helix Platform.
Support for variables in the BMC Helix Platform page URL
The BMC Digital Workplace administrator can pass the following variables to the embedded BMC Helix Platform page URL:
{loginId}
{firstName}
{lastName}
{fullName}
For more information, see Embedding custom pages from BMC Helix Platform.
Configure impersonation button view
The BMC Digital Workplace administrator can configure how end users see the impersonation button. In the BMC Digital Workplace Admin console, you can select one or both of the following options:
- Show in the user menu (default view)
- Show in the navigation bar
The following table shows the difference between the impersonation button view in versions earlier than 20.02.01 and in version 20.02.02:
Versions earlier than 20.02.02 | Version 20.02.02 |
---|---|
For more information, see Enabling requesting on behalf of other users.
Simplified switch from one impersonated user to another
In earlier versions of BMC Digital Workplace, if the impersonated user wanted to impersonate another user, they first returned to their own view. With this version, end users can switch to another user directly. For more information, see Requesting services on behalf of other users.
Simplified request of the same service on behalf of multiple users
End users can submit the same service request multiple times by changing the Request for user. This feature enables end users to submit a service request for different users during checkout and without returning to the Catalog tab.
For more information, see Requesting services on behalf of other users.
Support for all fields in the Create Incident and Create Incident With Identifier activities in the Remedy connector
In earlier versions of BMC Digital Workplace, only the limited list of input parameters was available for mapping with the Create Incident and Create Incident With Identifier activities. In version 20.02.02, the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog administrator can select any other input mappings in the Other Fields parameter name.
For more information, see Remedy connector.
Comparison operators (>, <, ≥, ≤) support for Remedy forms
While creating query filters, the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog administrator can use the following comparison operators: is greater than, is less than, is greater than or equal to, and is less than or equal to.
The BMC Digital Workplace Catalog administrator can use these comparison operators for Remedy form questions in the following scenarios:
- Using the Add form option, you create actions that trigger responses when a questionnaire is opened. For more information, see Creating questions with default responses.
- Using the Map to Form option, you create selection lists for question responses. For more information, see Creating selection menus for question responses.
Reopen associated activities
A new reopen option, Reopen associated activities, enables the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog administrator to configure the option for activities associated to Work Orders, Incidents, Change Requests, and SRM Requests.
For more information, see Enabling users to reopen requests.

Comments
Where can we find digital-workplace-catalog-patch-20.02.02.tar.gz ? EPD only contains digital-workplace-catalog-upgrade20.02.02.tar.gz but this is not the mentioned patch file.
Thanks for your comment, Andreas Mitterdorfer. I apologize for the confusion, please use the upgrade file that you identified on EPD. The file name was erroneously stated and we are working on making the correction.
Thanks for the update @Ravee Panjwani . Please also correct the instructions for upgrading, the apply_patch.sh script does not exist in upgrade file, but I assume you are already aware of that.
You are right Andreas Mitterdorfer. Since this release allows you to install afresh without requiring version 20.02, the upgrade will require you to use the
upgrade-digitalworkplace
.sh
script.I have updated this page to include a link to the topic that provides the required details → Upgrading a BMC Digital Workplace Catalog server.
Thanks again!
