Managing floor maps

After you create a location, you can create floor maps. Floor maps in BMC Digital Workplace have the following specifications:

  • Supported file types: .jpg.gif, and .png
  • Optimum file size: 300 KB
  • Optimum resolution: 2475x1900 pixels (although it is not required)

Before you begin

Define a location for the floor map. For more information, see Setting up locations.

To add a new floor map

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, click Location Management.
  2. Click Floor Maps.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Complete the fields that appear below the Add button.

  5. If you want to add assets immediately after clicking Save, select Show map details after saving.

  6. Click Save.

To modify a floor map

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, click Location Management.
  2. Click Floor Maps.
  3. Select an existing floor map from the table.
  4. Click Edit floor map.
  5. Click Edit floor map info, and edit the fields if needed.
If you replace an existing floor map with a new floor map image, the original asset pin markers remain. You might have to adjust the locations of the pins to correspond with the locations on the new floor map, especially if the size of the new image is different from that of the original.

  6. If you edited the fields, click Save.
  7. To add assets, scroll to the area below the map, and add assets as described in Managing assets on floor maps.

To delete a floor map

  1. In BMC Digital Workplace, click Location Management.
  2. Click Floor Maps.
  3. Select an existing floor map from the table.
  4. Click Delete.
The selected floor map is deleted. Any assets on the map are not deleted; they are listed as unused assets.
