License entitlements

Your license entitlements determine which products you can download. The BMC Digital Workplace Basic and Advanced products are part of the Digital Workplace solution.

You can download the components mentioned here from the Electronic Product Distribution website. Use the same user name and password that you use to access the Customer Support website.

If you do not have a current license for the components you want, contact a BMC sales representative by calling 800 793 4262. If you cannot download the components, contact a sales representative and ask for a physical kit to be shipped to you.

This topic describes the BMC Digital Workplace licensing entitlements for Basic and Advanced.

To check license usage, use the BMC License Collection Utility. For more information about those reports, see Reports overview Open link  in the BMC License Collection Utility online documentation.

BMC Action Request System Server

BMC Digital Workplace entitles a customer to create, modify, and read unlimited records in BMC Action Request System Server that supports deployment and use of BMC Digital Workplace use cases serving licensed BMC Digital Workplace users. Because the BMC Digital Workplace package includes zero dollar licenses, you may use these licenses only within the context of the solution provided. You cannot use BMC Action Request System Server as a stand-alone product.

The context of this limitation is as follows:

  • BMC Remedy AR System is supplied as a foundation component for deploying BMC Digital Workplace. Use of BMC Remedy AR System is limited to running the components within BMC Digital Workplace and implementing integrations with providers associated with delivering the BMC Digital Workplace solution.
  • Three fixed user licenses are provided with BMC Remedy AR System for performing BMC Digital Workplace administrative tasks. Additional users may not be added until additional BMC Remedy AR System application and user licenses are purchased.
  • Remedy AR System may be integrated only with external data sources or third-party providers in conjunction with the product. It may not be used in a stand-alone configuration without integration with BMC Digital Workplace.

Actions that void the zero dollar licenses and require a full purchase of the components include but are not limited to:

  • Using AR System Server to customize, test, or run Remedy ITSM or third-party applications.
  • Using AR System Server to develop, test, or run a new custom application.
  • Using the three provided fixed users licenses to power custom applications or other applications powered by BMC Remedy AR System, except BMC Digital Workplace.
