Setting up end users' job titles synchronization

As the BMC Digital Workplace administrator, you can set up the synchronization of BMC Digital Workplace and Remedy ITSM user profiles. As a result, end users can view and edit their job titles in both applications and keep their data up to date. 

To set up the synchronization between BMC Digital Workplace and Remedy ITSM 

Note

By default, the synchronization is disabled.

  1. In the BMC Digital Workplace Admin console, go to Configuration > Enable features.
  2. Select the Use ITSM Job Title for user instead of DWP Job Title check box.

  3. Select the User Profile Data Editing check box.
    The automatic synchronization is enabled; end users can edit their job title in BMC Digital Workplace.

How the synchronization works

The following table explains how the synchronization works between BMC Digital Workplace and Remedy ITSM and describes what results the BMC Digital Workplace administrator gets by enabling and disabling the synchronization-related options in Admin console:

  • The synchronization is on; end users can see their job titles from Remedy ITSM in their BMC Digital Workplace user profiles.
  • End users cannot edit their job titles in BMC Digital Workplace.

  • The synchronization is off; end users can see their job titles from BMC Digital Workplace.
  • End users can edit their job titles in BMC Digital Workplace.
  • The job titles that are edited in BMC Digital Workplace are not saved to Remedy ITSM user profiles.
