Copying services from another system
You can export services from BMC Digital Workplace Catalog as a zip archive, and import the zip archive to create new services in your catalog. The zip archive contains catalog profiles, workflows, questions, and other metadata for all versions of the services. Use this method to create backups of services, or to copy services to other environments. For example, you might export services from the development server and import the services to the staging and production servers.
When migrating your data, take into account the following considerations:
- You cannot edit the workflows attached to services imported through the BMC Remedy service connector.
- You can transfer these services only between systems that are connected to the same BMC Remedy IT Service Management system.
- You cannot export service entitlements.
To export services from your service catalog
- In BMC Digital Workplace Catalog , go to Services > Services.
- From the My Services tab, select one or more services.
- Click Actions > Export.
Tip
If you are using BMC Digital Workplace Catalog 18.08 or later, you can export and import services across up to two versions.
For example, you can export services from BMC Digital Workplace Catalog 18.05, and import them into BMC Digital Workplace Catalog 18.11. However, you can export services from BMC Digital Workplace Catalog 18.11 and import them into BMC Digital Workplace Catalog 18.08 only.
To import services from another service catalog
- In BMC Digital Workplace Catalog , go to Services > Services.
- From the My Services tab, click Import From File.
- Choose the zip file to import from your computer.
All versions and revisions of the services are imported with the same statuses they had before being exported. You can entitle published service revisions through virtual marketplaces immediately.
After importing services, you might need to update the workflows attached to each service to ensure that the correct service connector Connection ID is selected
