Creating user accounts by using Remedy Mid Tier

If you have access to the application server through Remedy Mid Tier, you can create users in the system administration console.

Before you begin

To edit user accounts

  1. Edit the values in the following URL to match your server environment, and open the URL in a web browser to open Remedy Mid Tier to access the User form on the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog server.

    Example URL
    http://<server_with_midtier>:8080/arsys/forms/<digitalworkplace_catalog-sample.com>/User
  2. Log in as a service catalog administrator.
    Example:
    • User: hannah_admin@calbroservices.com
    • Password: Passw0rd!
  3. Click New search.
  4. Enter the search criteria by using % as a wildcard in any field.
  5. Click Search.
  6. Modify the existing records as required.

To create a new user account

  1. Follow the steps in the preceding section to ensure the user to be created does not already exist.
  2. Click New request.
  3. Enter the information for the user record.
    Example: To create a self-service request user account for Bob Baxter, complete the following fields:

  4. Click Save to create the user account.
    If the user matches an existing user in BMC Digital Workplace , the user can view and request BMC Digital Workplace Catalog services from the enhanced catalog.

  5. When you are finished managing user accounts, log out of Remedy Mid Tier.

Example information that can be used to create user accounts

When you use Remedy Mid Tier to create user accounts, you can create users with different access permissions based on the values that you add to the Group List.

Administrative roles to manage service catalogs

Users who are given access to log into the catalog administration console can also be granted Administrator rights. The Administrator permission group enables a user to log in to Remedy Mid Tier to perform administrative functions on the BMC Digital Workplace Catalog server.

Warning

Never add the Administrator group to users in the sbe-myit-users group, and never add the sbe-myit-users group to any administrative role (sbe-catalog-admins, sbe-internal-suppliers, sbe-asset-managers, sbe-agents).

    This is what puzzles me. If I follow steps described in the previous paragraph "Creating user accounts in a batch by using shell scripts" is it expected to see account created using create.sh script in the User form? If yes, then that account does not appear there. Similarly, if I create account on User form it does not appear under User Roles -> Add User. In either case I'm unable to login to ARS with that account nor use it to set up connection between DWP Advanced and the Catalog.
