Silent agent installation program
The wt-silent.exe program is a standard feature of current BMC Defender versions, residing in the s-doc directory of the BMC Defender Server. The program allows the agent program to install at a command line without a GUI or console. The program accepts a single argument, that is the destination IP address to send messages. Otherwise, the program operates in a fashion identical to the standard installer.
The wt-silent.exe program installs the software in a folder where the package gets executed (that might be different than the location of the wt-silent.exe package). The package creates a sub-folder called wintools that contains all the files necessary to run the agent.
The preceding command creates the wintools folder within the C:\program files (x86) folder, then installs files in the wintools folder, installs the BMC Defender syslog message service and starts the service. This usually takes about 10–20 seconds to complete.
The wintools folder location is built into the wt-silent.exe program. You cannot change this value. If you have special considerations in this area, you can request this change from program support.
