Web browser requirements

This topic lists the web browsers and the required settings that you can use to access BMC Decision Support for Server Automation. The supported browser and operating system combinations vary for product components.

 

Supported web browser and operating systems combinations

 The following table lists the supported web browser and operating system combinations for use with the IBM Cognos connection Open link , Report Viewer, Query Studio Open link , and Report Studio components, and the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation Console. A (tick) sign indicates that the component is supported on that web browser and operating system.

BMC Decision Support for Server Automation works with the following browsers that are supported by Cognos. For the exact versions of these browsers that are supported by Cognos, see the IBM Cognos documentation at  Web browser support Open link .

Google Chrome is NOT a supported browser. 

Notes

Microsoft Office integration is only supported on Windows platforms (for example, the Export to Excel feature is supported only on Windows platforms).

Web browser settings to access the console

To access the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation Console in various browsers, you must change the browser settings, as follows:

  • To view the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation Console with Microsoft Internet Explorer, you must enable the latest versions of TLS and SSL.
  1. Click Tools > Internet Options.
  2. On the Advanced tab, navigate to the Security settings.
  3. Select the Use TLS <latestVersion> and Use SSL <latestVersion> check boxes.
  • Ensure that JavaScript is enabled for your web browser, as follows.

    1. Click Tools > Internet Options
    2. On the Security tab, click the Custom level button. 
    3. Navigate to Scripting > Active scripting, and select the Enable option.
    1. Click Tools > Internet Options.
    2. On the Content tab, select the Enable JavaScript check box. 
  • If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, 9, 10, or 11, you might still encounter a Browser not supported message when opening the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation portal. This issue might arise if your browser is running in compatibility mode or if the user agent string value has been changed.

    To resolve this issue you can try executing the following steps: 

    1. Press the F12 key on your keyboard to open the Developer Tools section at the bottom of your browser window.
    2. Click the Emulation tab in the bottom section and set User agent string to the Default value.
