Stopping the Cognos service

You can use any one of the following methods to stop the Cognos service:

  • On Windows, select Start > Programs > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services. Right-click cognos10 and select Stop.
  • Use the IBM Cognos configuration tool to stop the Cognos service on UNIX-like computers.
    For details, see the procedure below and the IBM Cognos Installation and Configuration Guide.
  • Use the blreports stop command to stop all services at once on Windows or UNIX-like computers.
    For details about using the blreports stop command, see Managing all services.
  • Use the Server Administrative tool in the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation user interface (your role must have permission to use this tool).

    For information about using the Server Administration tool, see the "Server Administration" section in the IBM Cognos Administration and Security Guide.

To stop the Cognos service on UNIX-like computers by using the Cognos configuration tool

  1. Navigate to the BDSSAInstallationDirectory/portal/bin64 directory.
  2. Type the following command:

    ./cogconfig.sh -stop


    This command stops the Cognos service in silent mode.
