Built-in Patch reports


Patch reports help you understand how well servers in the data center conform to vendor recommendations and can be used to track patch policy compliance over time. Summary reports show data for installed and missing patches, such as number of patches installed, number of patches missing, and number of servers audited. Details reports show data for missing patches. 

To collect data in Patch reports, you need to set up and run the Patching Jobs in BMC Server Automation. For more information, see Setting-up-data-collection-for-Patch-reports.

Patch Analysis Policy Summary  

Provides job run information, such as the number of servers on which a Patching Job was run and number of servers scanned for the Patching Job

In addition, it provides information about the patch catalog for a patch analysis policy (same as Patching Job), number of installed and missing patches on the scanned servers, and percentage patch compliance of policies.

Patch Details

Shows detailed information about each patch that is installed or missing on a server for a given patch type

Information is grouped by the patch name.

  • Columns applicable for all the available platforms: 

    Server Name, Patch Catalog Name, Patch Analysis Policy, Job Run Start Time, Patch Status
  • Columns applicable for Microsoft Windows platforms:

    Vendor Name, KB URL, CVE ID, Date Posted, Q Number, Bulletin Title, Superseded By, Is Obsolete Bulletin, Bulletin ID, Impact, Hotfix Size (MB)
  • Columns applicable only for Linux platforms: 

    Errata Advisory, Errata Synopsis, Errata Issue Date, Errata Type, Errata Topic, Errata Severity, Errata Supported OS Architecture, RPM Supported OS Architecture, RPM Channel, RPM Errata, RPM Summary, RPM Group, RPM Build Date, RPM Vendor, RPM License, RPM Payload Size (MB), RPM Package

Patch Analysis Trend By Policy  

Shows the following weekly trends for a selected policy:

  • Number of servers on which a job was run for the policy, number of scanned servers, and number of servers that were not scanned

    Note: This drill through is enabled only if the Missing Patch Count column contains value greater than 0.

Patch Trend By Server  

Provides a weekly graphical and tabular view of the number of the installed and missing patches on a server and percentage patch compliance of the server against a policy over a selected time interval

Patch Details By Server

Shows the latest status of patches on a server irrespective of the different Patching job runs and the patch analysis policies

In addition, it shows details of the patches on a server that belong to a patch catalog. Information is grouped by server name.

    Server Name, Patch, Patch Analysis Policy, Job Run Start Time, Patch Status

Patch Catalog Details

Lists the information for a selected patch catalog that belongs to a patch catalog group
