Installation error
On Windows, the installation or upgrade process stops progressing with the following message on the installation wizard:
IBM Cognos Products: btsv has stopped working
The installation log shows an error message similar to the following:
Execution of [D:\PROGRA~2\BMCSOF~1\BLADEL~1\8.1\Reports\cognos_installer\winx64h\issetup.exe -s D:\PROGRA~2\BMCSOF~1\BLADEL~1\8.1\Reports\portal\cognos.ats] failed.
This error occurs if COM+ related Windows components are disabled.
Solution: Complete the following steps and restart the installation or upgrade process:
- Right-click My Computer and select Manage.
- Expand Services and Applications and then double-click Services.
- Double-click COM+ Event System and ensure that that the Startup type option is set to Automatic.
- Double-click COM+ System Application and ensure that the Startup type option is set to Manual.
- Double-click Distributed Transaction Coordinator and ensure that the Startup type option is set to Automatic (Delayed Start).
- Restart the computer.
