Uninstalling

This topic describes how to uninstall BMC Decision Support for Server Automation by using the uninstallation wizard and silently.

Note

If you plan to reinstall the product after uninstalling it, ensure that the Cognos service is removed before you reinstall the product.

To uninstall from Windows by using the uninstallation wizard

  1. Select Start > Programs > BMC Decision Support for Server Automation > Uninstall to launch the Windows uninstallation wizard.

  2. Follow the instructions in the wizard to uninstall the product.
  3. After the uninstallation is complete, manually delete the entire installation directory.

To uninstall from UNIX by using the uninstallation wizard

Note

This procedure is applicable for deployments using the Oracle database only.

  1. Log on as root.

  2. Navigate to the BDSSAInstallationDir/UninstallBdssa directory.

  3. Run the uninstallation script, as follows:

    ./uninstall.bin
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation.
  5. After the uninstallation is complete, manually delete the entire installation directory.

To uninstall the product in silent mode

  1. Create a text file called options.txt.
    For more information, see Creating an options.txt file. Ensure that you include the appropriate -P option.

    Sets the installation folder for an application

    -P installLocation=<filePath>

    -P installLocation=C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BDSSA\UninstallBdssa

  2. Change to the directory where the uninstall file is located.
    For example:
    • (Windows) C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BDSSA\UninstallBdssa
    • (UNIX) /opt/bmc/BDSSA/UninstallBdssa
  3. Run the uninstaller with the -i silent option.
    You must use an absolute path to the options.txt file.

    • Windows:

      uninstall.exe -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE= pathToFile\Options.txt

      If the path contains spaces, enclose it in quotation marks (" ").

    • UNIX:

      ./uninstall -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE= pathToFile/Options.txt
  4. After the uninstallation is complete, manually delete the entire installation directory.
