Sample RBAC report with filters and groups


The following example demonstrates how to create a role-based access control (RBAC) report that shows the authorization-related changes that happened on an object (in this example, a server) in the last seven days.

To create an RBAC report with filters and groups

  1. Launch Query Studio from the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation portal.
  2. Select a package (for example, BladeLogic) from the list of available packages.
  3. Click the Run Report link.
  4. Click the Preview with No Data link.
  5. Click the Insert Data link.
  6. Open the RBAC folder and drag the Audit Trail/Object Type query item to the right pane.
  7. Apply a filter on the Object Type column with the Server value selected.
  8. Drag the following query items to the right pane:
    • Audit Trail/Object Name
    • Audit Trail/Object Authorization
    • Audit Trail/Authorization Result Message
    • Audit Trail/Authorization Successful
    • Role/Role Name
    • Audit Trail/Log Date
  9. Apply filter on the Log Datecolumn, as follows:
    1. Select the column and click Filter on the toolbar.
    2. From the Operation type list, select Last number of days.
    3. In the Number of days before today field, type 7.
    4. Click OK.
  10. In the Combine filters dialog box, click OK.
  11. Group the report by the Object Name column.
  12. Click the Run Report link.
  13. Click the Run with All Data link.
  14. Save the report.
     The following figure shows a sample RBAC report created by using this procedure:
