Restarting the RSCD agent

During installation of BMC Decision Support for Server Automation, system environment variables are set. The BMC Server Automation Remote System Call Daemon (RSCD) agent and its children can inherit those system environment variables. For that inheritance to occur, you must restart the RSCD agent that is installed on the BMC Decision Support for Server Automation computer.

Use the procedures listed in the following table to start and stop the RSCD agent:

Action

Windows

Linux and UNIX

Start RSCD agent

The RSCD agent is a Windows service.

  1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  2. Right-click BladeLogic RSCD Agent and choose Start.

Note:

You cannot start the RSCD agent service, from a non-system account, by right-clicking the RSCD service and selecting Properties > Log on. This method is not supported by BMC Server Automation.

Type the command:
<installDir>/NSH/sbin/agentctl start

Stop RSCD agent

  1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
  2. Right-click BladeLogic RSCD Agent and select Stop.

Type the command:
<installDir>/NSH/sbin/agentctl stop
