Several of our custom reports broke because the data model updated. Please start showing net changes between versions somewhere so that we can correct reports. Please see this for examples:

Thank you for your comment, Jason. While we don't have a consolidated view of data model changes, we do summarize any changes to the data model on the Enhancement topic for each release. For example, for 8.6 you can see the data model changes here: 8.6.00 enhancements - Changes in the BMC BladeLogic data model. We also attach the full data model for each release on the PDFs page. For easier access, we have provided links to the 8.6 changes and the 8.6 data model in the Related topics section in this topic. We are evaluating ways to consolidate the information and plan to provide a consolidated view of the data model changes soon.

Thank you. That is definitely some of it. I've since found out that since we had to go from 8.2 - 8.6 we were supposed to update the reports at our stop in 8.5. There is still discussion around that as we weren't going to have users in BDSSA. However I also noticed the deprecation of some filters etc and that is not in any of the documentation between 8.2 and 8.6. For example the method used to filter decommissioned servers is different but I can't find that in any documentation. But these docs are on the right track. Thanks.

You are welcome and thank you for continuing to point out areas of the documentation that we can improve. For example, while we do document changes in filters, and such, we do it in a way that is not easy to find. There were major changes to the data model in 8.2 and those changes were captured in spreadsheets we attached to the 8.2 PDFs page. The sheets that contain the information are:

We are adding links to these spreadsheets from the 8.2 Data model topic and also looking at other options for providing consolidated model change information that spans multiple releases that is easy to find.

     Hi Jason,

We have made a few more changes to make it easier to find data model changes spanning multiple releases based on your feedback. In the Enhancements topic for each release, we now have sections for not only the changes in the current release, but also the changes to the model in previous releases. See 8.6 Changes in the data model. We have also included links to the data model spreadsheet and the changes in the data model section in the Related topics section on this topic.

Thanks again for your feedback and we hope these changes will be helpful.
