Verifying the installation

This topic describes how to verify whether the product was installed successfully.

Verifying the installation of 8.9.02 and later versions

To confirm whether the installation was successful in 8.9.02 and later versions, perform the following tasks:

  • Check the log file, named bds_install_log_<timestamp>.txt, in the \Program Files\BMC Software\BL-Decision Support\logs directory to confirm that the installation completed without errors.
  • Check whether the Content Deployment utility was run successfully.
  • Log on to Central Management Console and check whether you can see the following items:
    • Choose Folders from the drop-down list. Check whether you can see the BMC Decision Support – BladeLogic Automation Suite > BMC Decision Support – Network Automation folder.
    • Choose Universe from the drop-down list. Check whether you can see the BMC Decision Support – BladeLogic Automation Suite Universes > NetworkAutomation Universe universe.
    • Choose Connections from the drop-down list. In the Connections list, check whether you can see the bds_na_cn connection.
  • Click Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler to open the Task Scheduler, and confirm that the following application-related tasks are created and running without errors:
    • bdsna_etl_tsk
    • Purge_Warehouse
    • bds_urgmapper_tsk (This task is created only for versions 8.9.02.004 and 8.9.02.005 by the Content Deployment utility on the BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) server)

Verifying the installation of versions 8.9.00 and 8.9.01

To confirm that the installation was successful in versions 8.9.00 and 8.9.01, complete the following checks:

  • Check the log file, named bds_install_log_<timestamp>.txt, in the C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BL-Decision Support\logs directory (this is the default location) to confirm that the installation completed without errors.
  • Click Start > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Task Scheduler to open the Task Scheduler, and confirm that the following application-related tasks are created and running without errors:
    • bdsna_etl_tsk
    • bds_urgmapper_tsk (This task is created by the product installation program on the application server)
    • Purge_Warehouse

After the first extract, transform, and load (ETL) run, verify that users and groups are being correctly transferred from BMC Network Automation and that they are set up correctly in BMC Decision Support – Network Automation. For details, see Verifying user configurations.
