Running the Content Deployment utility

To access reports in 8.9.02 and later versions of BMC Decision Support – Network Automation, after you install the product, you need to run the Content Deployment utility on the reporting server (where SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) platform is installed). In versions 8.9.02.004 and 8.9.02.005, when you run the utility, the User Role Group (URG) Mapper task is created if the utility is run successfully.

This topic provides instructions for running the utility.

Before you begin

Before you run the Content Deployment utility, perform the following tasks:

  1. Download and unzip the Content Deployment utility on the reporting server as described in To extract the BMC Decision Support - Network Automation installation files

    Note

    Do not delete the extracted folder after running the utility or move it to some other folder. It contains the files required to access reports.

  2. Ensure that you have met all of the system requirements (see System requirements).
  3. Ensure that you have installed BMC Decision Support – Network Automation.

To run the utility

  1. On the reporting server, from the command prompt, navigate to the BI-BO-Content-BNA directory and run the following command: deployContent.bat.
  2. When prompted for reporting server host name, verify the host name and do one of the following:
    1. If host name is correct, type Y or y and press Enter
    2. If host name is not correct, enter the host name, and press Enter.
  3. When prompted for the reporting server port number, verify the port number and do one of the following:
    1. If port number is correct, type Y or y and press Enter
    2. If port number is not correct, enter the port number, and press Enter.
  4. When prompted for the reporting server user name, verify the user name and do one of the following:
    1. If user name is correct, type Y or y and press Enter
    2. If user name is not correct, enter the user name, and press Enter.
  5. When prompted for the password, enter password for the user name, and press Enter.
  6. When prompted for the data warehouse connection (for example, BCAN_DWH) details, first enter database type (Oracle/ SQL Server/ PostgreSQL), and press Enter.
  7. When prompted for the database host name, enter database host name and press Enter.
  8. When prompted for the database port number, enter port number and press Enter.
  9. When prompted, depending on the database type, enter one of these for the data warehouse and press Enter:

    Database TypeInput
    OracleService Name/ SID
    PostgreSQL, SQL ServerDatabase Name
  10. When prompted for the data warehouse user name, enter the user name and press Enter.
  11. When prompted for password, enter password for the user name and press Enter.
  12. (Prompted only for versions 8.9.02.004 and 8.9.02.005)  When prompted for the operating system user credentials, enter the user name and password, and press Enter.
    The Promotion job is created.
  13. If the job completes successfully, log on to Central Configuration Manager (CCM) and restart the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) service.
