Performing the upgrade

This topic provides instructions for upgrading the BMC Decision Support – Network Automation software by using the installation wizard.

Before you begin

  1. Ensure that you have met all of the system requirements.
  2. Ensure that you have reviewed the information in the following topics:
    1. Downloading the installation files
    2. Installation worksheet
      Have your copy of the installation worksheet available with all of the required parameters listed in the worksheet.
    3. Setting up the installation environment
  3. Verify that you have backed up the BMC Decision Support - Network Automation environment as described in Preparing for upgrade.
  4. Verify that the Windows Task Scheduler is running.
  5. Verify that all servers in your deployment are accessible to each other and that related services are running.

Note

Ensure that ETL process is stopped before performing an upgrade.

To upgrade to version 8.9.00 or 8.9.01 

  1. Log on to the host computer on which you plan to install BMC Decision Support – Network Automation as an Administrator.
  2. Navigate to the directory containing the setup.exe file.
  3. Double-click the file to start the installation wizard.
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation screens and refer to the Installation worksheet for details about the required installation parameters. The installation worksheet includes instructions for upgrading the product.

To upgrade to version 8.9.02 or later

  1. Log on to the host computer on which you plan to upgrade BMC Decision Support – Network Automation as an Administrator.
  2. Uninstall the existing version of BMC Decision Support – Network Automation.
  3. Clean up the BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) server for the BMC Decision Support – Network Automation reporting contents.
  4. Navigate to the directory containing the setup.exe file.
  5. Double-click the file to start the installation wizard.
  6. Follow the instructions in the installation screens and refer to the Installation worksheet for versions 8.9.02 and later for details about the required installation parameters. The installation worksheet includes instructions for upgrading the product.
  7. Run the Content Deployment utility.

To upgrade to version 8.9.02.x from version 8.9.02

  1. Log on to the host computer on which you plan to upgrade BMC Decision Support – Network Automation as an Administrator.
  2. Navigate to the directory containing the setup.exe file.
  3. Double-click the file to start the installation wizard.
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation screens and refer to the Installation worksheet for versions 8.9.02 and later for details about the required installation parameters. The installation worksheet includes instructions for upgrading the product.
  5. Run the Content Deployment utility.
