Backing up the BusinessObjects contents

This topic describes how to back up custom (ad hoc) and out-of-box reports, and BusinessObjects Universe and Connection. 

To back up the BusinessObjects contents

  1. Log on to Central Management Console (CMC) with a user having Administrator rights and under Manage, click Promotion Management
  2. Click New Job.
  3. Provide a name and description for the job.
  4. From Source, select Login to a New CMS
  5. In the Login To System dialog box, enter details of the BusinessObjects Central Management Server and click Login.
  6. From Destination, select Output to LCMBIAR File.
  7. Click Create
  8. In the Add Objects from the system window, under All Folders, click BMC Decision Support – BladeLogic Automation Suite
  9. In the right pane, select the corresponding check box and click Add.
  10. Under All Folders, click Universes BMC Decision Support – BladeLogic Automation Suite Universes.
  11. In the right pane, select the corresponding check box and click Add.
  12. Under All folders, click Connections.
  13. In the right pane, select bds_na_cn and then click Add.
  14. Click Close.
  15. If you have created any custom contents such as reports, essure that you add them as well.
  16. In the next window, select all the objects in the right pane. If there are multiple pages, then navigate through all the pages and select all the required objects and click Promote
  17. In the Promote window, click Export
    BusinessObjects contents are exported in the lcmbiar file. Use this file as the backup.
