Uninstalling


This topic describes how to uninstall BMC Decision Support – Database Automation silently and by using the installation wizard and clean up the system after uninstallation. 

Note

You do not need to uninstall 8.9.02 and later versions of the product. You only need to clean up the system, as described in Cleaning up the system for 8.9.02 or later versions.

To uninstall BMC Decision Support – Database Automation 8.9.01 and earlier versions by using installation wizard

  1. Select Start > Programs > BMC Decision Support – BladeLogic Automation Suite > Uninstall.
  2. In the Welcome screen, click Next to continue.
  3. Select Uninstall BMC Decision Support – Database Automation and click Next.
     The product is uninstalled.

To uninstall BMC Decision Support – Database Automation 8.9.01 and earlier versions in silent mode

  1. Create a text file called options.txt
    For more information, see Creating-an-options-txt-file.
  2. Make sure to include the appropriate -P or -J option in the options.txt file.

    Sets the installation folder for an application.

    -P installLocation=<filePath>

    -P installLocation=C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BL-Decision Support

    -J

    Specifies Java properties that correspond to user inputs.

    -J DA_DWH_DATABASE_NAME=orcl 
    -J DA_DWH_DATABASE_PORT_NUMBER=1521 
    -J INSTALL_BDS_DA=false

  3. Change to the directory where the uninstall file is located, for example: C:\Program Files\BMC Software\BL-Decision Support\UninstallBMCReportingAndAnalytics.
  4. Run the uninstaller with the -i silent option:

    uninstall.exe -i silent -DOPTIONS_FILE= pathToFile\Options.txt

You must use an absolute path to the options.txt file.

Cleaning up the system for versions 8.9.00 and 8.9.01

After you uninstall the product, BMC recommends that you perform the following steps to clean up the system:

  1. Delete the installation files and folders.
  2. Clean up the the temp directory.
  3. Delete the URG Mapper task from the Task Scheduler if it exists.
  4. Log on to the Central Management Console (CMC) with an Administrative user and delete the following objects:
    • Folders > BMC Decision Support - BladeLogic Automation Suite
    • Folders > Promotion Management > Promotion Jobs > Database Promotion Jobs
    • Universes > BMC Decision Support - BladeLogic Automation Suite Universes
    • Connections > bds_da_cn
    • Users and Groups > Groups > BDS-DA Administrators
    • Users and Groups > Groups > BDS-DA Authors
    • Users and Groups > Groups > BDS-DA Designers
    • Users and Groups > Groups > BDS-DA Viewers
    • Users and Groups > Users > Delete all other users except the following ones:
      • Administrator
      • Guest
      • SMAdmin
      • QaaWSServletPrincipal
  5. Drop the reports data warehouse.

Cleaning up the system for 8.9.02 or later versions

BMC recommends that you perform the following steps to clean up the system:

  1. Clean up the the temp directory.
  2. Log on to the Central Management Console (CMC) with an Administrative user and delete the following objects:
    • Folders > BMC Decision Support - BladeLogic Automation Suite
    • Folders > Promotion Management > Promotion Jobs > Database Promotion Jobs
    • Universes > BMC Decision Support - BladeLogic Automation Suite Universes
    • Connections > bds_da_cn
    • Users and Groups > Users > Delete all other users except the following ones:
      • Administrator
      • Guest
      • SMAdmin
      • QaaWSServletPrincipal
  3. Drop the reports data warehouse.
