Performing the installation for versions 8.9.02 and later

To access reports in version 8.9.02 and later of BMC Decision Support – Database Automation, you need to run the Content Deployment utility on the BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) server. This topic provides instructions for running the utility.

Before you begin

Before you run the Content Deployment utility, perform the following tasks:

  1. Ensure that you have met all of the system requirements (see System requirements).
  2. Download and unzip the Content Deployment utility as described in To extract the installation files.
  3. Verify that all servers in your deployment are accessible to each other and that related services are running.

To run the utility

  1. From the command prompt, navigate to the BI-BO-Content-BDA directory and run the following command: deployContent.bat.
  2. When prompted for reporting server host name, verify the host name and do one of the following:
    1. If host name is correct, type Y or y and press Enter
    2. If host name is not correct, enter the host name, and press Enter.
  3. When prompted for the reporting server port number, verify the port number and do one of the following:
    1. If port number is correct, type Y or y and press Enter
    2. If port number is not correct, enter the port number, and press Enter.
  4. When prompted for the reporting server user name, verify the user name and do one of the following:
    1. If user name is correct, type Y or y and press Enter
    2. If user name is not correct, enter the user name, and press Enter.
  5. When prompted for the password, enter password for the user name, and press Enter.
  6. When prompted for the data warehouse connection details (for example, BCAN_DWH), first enter database host name and press Enter.
  7. When prompted for the database port number, enter port number and press Enter.
  8. When prompted for the Service Name or SID, enter one of these and press Enter.
  9. When prompted for the data warehouse user name, enter the user name and press Enter.
  10. When prompted for password, enter password for the user name and press Enter.
    The Promotion job is created. 
  11. If the job completes successfully, log on to Central Configuration Manager (CCM) and restart the Server Intelligence Agent (SIA) service.
