Control-M for IBM DataStage
IBM DataStage enables you to construct data handling jobs that automate both ETL (extract, transform and load) and ELT (extract, load and transform) processes.
Control-M for IBM DataStage enables you to do the following:
- Integrate IBM DataStage jobs with other Control-M jobs into a single scheduling environment.
- Connect to any supported IBM DataStage server from a single Control-M for IBM DataStage installation.
- Connect to any supported database from a single computer with secure login, which eliminates the need to provide authentication.
- Attach an SLA job to your IBM DataStage jobs.
- Introduce all Control-M capabilities to Control-M for IBM DataStage including advanced scheduling criteria, complex dependencies, Resource Pools, Lock Resources, and variables.

Setting Up Control-M for IBM DataStage
This procedure describes how to deploy the IBM DataStage plug-in, create a connection profile and define an IBM DataStage job in Control-M Web and Automation API.
Before You Begin
Verify that Automation API is installed, as described in Automation API Installation.
Begin
- Create a temporary directory to save the downloaded files.
- Download the IBM DataStage plug-in from one of the following download pages in the EPD site:
- Control-M/Agents running on Linux: Control-M for IBM DataStage for Linux download page
- Control-M/Agents running on Windows: Control-M for IBM DataStage for Windows download page
- Install the IBM DataStage plug-in using the Automation API Provision service:
- Log in to the Control-M/EM Server machine as an Administrator and store the downloaded zip file in the one of the following locations (within several minutes, the job type appears in Control-M Web):
- Linux: $HOME/ctm_em/AUTO_DEPLOY
- Windows: <EM_HOME>\AUTO_DEPLOY
- Log in to the Control-M/Agent machine and run the provision image command, as follows:
- Linux: ctm provision image datastage_linux_plugin.Linux
- Windows: ctm provision image datastage_windows_plugin.Windows
- Log in to the Control-M/EM Server machine as an Administrator and store the downloaded zip file in the one of the following locations (within several minutes, the job type appears in Control-M Web):
- Create an IBM DataStage connection profile in Control-M Web or Automation API, as follows:
- Define an IBM DataStage job in Control-M Web or Automation API, as follows:
- Web: Creating a Job with IBM DataStage Job parameters.
- Automation API: Job:IBM DataStage.
