Setting Command Center options

Use the following procedure to enable certain settings and troubleshooting tools that affect all perspectives.

Important

To set options for a particular perspective only, on the Classic console use the Options (In the new console, use ) button .

The Support tab provides access to product trace options. Use these options only when requested to do so by BMC Support.


To change the filter options

  1. On the New console's main menu, click Signed in as > Options .

  2. Select the General tab.

  3. Select Filter Options.

    In all perspectives, this option converts all entered filter values to uppercase.

    Note

    After selecting (enabling) this option, you can override it for a specific filter by beginning the filter value with a quotation mark (").

    • Leave the check box selected if you want BMC AMI Command Center to convert all filter values that you enter to uppercase (the default).

    • Clear the check box if you want to preserve the case that you use when typing filter values.

  4. Click OK.

  3. Select Filter Options.

To change the maximum rows returned

Use this procedure to set the maximum Db2 statement cache rows returned.

  1. On the console's main menu, click Signed in as > Options.

  2. Select the General tab.

  3. Enter the Maximum rows returned. Valid values are 1 to 5000.

  4. Click OK.

To enable syntax highlighting

BMC AMI Command Center syntax highlighting is keyword-based with very light parsing. It uses the list of keywords and built-in functions documented in IBM Db2 manuals. It does not detect syntax errors. Use this procedure to enable syntax highlighting:

  1. From the console's main menu, click Signed in as > Options.

  2. Select the General tab.

  3. In the Syntax Highlighting Options section, select Use syntax highlighting for SQL statements.
    In the Scratchpad and Performance perspectives, this option determines whether syntax highlighting is enabled.
    After selecting (enabling) this option, SQL statements on the SQL Tuning tab of the Performance perspective are highlighted the next time you select the view. In the Scratchpad perspective, SQL statements are highlighted if the option was previously selected in the view.
  4. Click OK.

To copy a layout

Use the following procedure to create a new layout based on an existing one. You will copy the layout, customize it, and save it under a new name.

Tip

You cannot edit the BMC predefined layouts, but you can copy and customize a predefined layout .

  1. In the upper left corner of the console, click Apps.

  2. Click Layout .
  3. On the Layouts list, select a layout.

  4. Click Copy the selected layout .

  5. Enter a name for the new layout.

  6. In the Copy Layout dialog box, select or clear the checkbox to add or remove perspectives.

  7. (optional) To change the order in which a perspective is displayed, select the perspective and click the Up or Down arrow (  ) to move it.

  8. Click OK.

  1. In the upper right corner of the console, click Apps.

  2. Click Layout .
  3. On the Layouts list, select a layout.

  4. Click Copy the selected layout .

  5. Enter a name for the new layout.

  6. In the Copy Layout dialog box, select or clear the checkbox to add or remove perspectives.

  7. (optional) To change the order in which a perspective is displayed, select the perspective and click the Up or Down arrow (  ) to move it.

  8. Click OK.

To set the default layout

The default layout is used when you create a new workspace, or when you open a workspace or template that was created by a version of BMC AMI Command Center that did not support layouts.

  1. In the upper right corner of the console, click Apps.

  2. Click Layout 
  3. On the Layouts list, click Select as your default layout  next to the layout that you want.

    The default layout is indicated with the  icon.

  4. Click OK.
