Deploying BMC AMI Utility Management settings

You can deploy settings from an BMC AMI Utility Management view to one or more subsystems. The deploy process copies the selected criteria, exceptions,  schedule, and duration settings to the target subsystems.

To deploy BMC AMI Utility Management settings

Use this procedure to deploy criteria, exceptions, schedule, or (BMC.DB2.SPE2201) Open link  duration settings:

  1. In the Product Tools perspective, select a BMC AMI Utility Management view from the navigation pane.
  2. Select the tab for the type of settings that you want to deploy (CriteriaExceptions, Schedules, or (BMC.DB2.SPE2201) Open link Durations )
  3. Click the deployment command (for example, Deploy criteria  for criteria settings). 

  4. In the Deploy BMC AMI Utility Management Criteria dialog box, perform the following tasks:
    1. In the Name field, accept the default name, or provide a name for the deployment.
      The name can contain up to 50 characters, including all printable ASCII characters.
    2. Select one or more Db2 subsystem connections to which you want to deploy the settings.

      Tip

        You can select to show only your favorites.

    3. Select whether to continue if an error occurs for a selected Db2 subsystem: 
      • Clearing the check box stops the deployment immediately.
      • Selecting the check box continues the deployment with the next Db2 subsystem.
    4. Click Next.
  5. From the BMC AMI Utility Management criteria record list, clear any records that you do not want to deploy.

    If BMC AMI Command Center detects a connection problem in a target Db2 subsystem the application:

    • removes the check box on each of the affected rows in the list. Hover the cursor over any row without a check box for additional information about the connection problem.
    • displays an error message in the lower left-hand corner of the wizard, which identifies the Db2 subsystem that has a connection problem.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Review the summary of the criteria deployment, and click Finish:
    • The deployment view is displayed under Deployment in the navigation pane.
    • The Record List, and Results tabs are displayed in the results pane.

    Important

    Details of the deployment processing are displayed in the Results tab. 

  8. (Optional) To save the deployment report, perform the following tasks:
    1. Click View Report .
    2. Click Save output text .
  1. In the Product Tools perspective, select an NGT Utility Management view from the navigation pane.
  2. Select the tab for the type of settings that you want to deploy (CriteriaExceptions, or Schedules)
  3. Click the deployment command (for example, Deploy criteria  for criteria settings). 

    Tip

    You can also right-click in the results pane to select this action.

  4. In the Deploy NGT Utility Management Criteria dialog box, perform the following tasks:
    1. In the Name field, accept the default name, or provide a name for the deployment.
      The name can contain up to 50 characters, including all printable ASCII characters.
    2. Select one or more DB2 subsystem connections to which you want to deploy the settings.

      Tip

        You can select to show only your favorites.

    3. Select whether to continue if an error occurs for a selected DB2 subsystem: 
      • Clearing the check box stops the deployment immediately.
      • Selecting the check box continues the deployment with the next DB2 subsystem.
    4. Click Next.
  5. From the NGT Utility Management criteria record list, clear any records that you do not want to deploy.

    If BMC AMI Command Center detects a connection problem in a target Db2 subsystem the application:

    • replaces the check box with a notification () icon on each of the affected rows in the list.
    • displays an error message in the lower left-hand corner of the wizard, which identifies the Db2 subsystem that has a connection problem. Click for additional information about the connection problem.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Review the summary of the criteria deployment, and click Finish:
    • The deployment view is displayed under Deployment in the DB2 navigation pane.
    • The Record List, and Results tabs are displayed in the results pane.

    Note

    Details of the deployment processing are displayed in the Results tab. 

  8. (Optional) To save the deployment report in a folder of your choice, click Report .

To deploy BMC AMI Utility Management settings by using an existing deployment view

Use this procedure to redeploy BMC AMI Utility Management settings that have already been defined in a deployment view. For example, you might have corrected a Db2 issue that previously prevented the settings from being deployed.

  1. From the Product Tools navigation pane, select a BMC AMI Utility Management deployment view.
    The results pane is populated with the Record List, and Results tabs.

  2. Click Deploy  .

  3. In the Deploy BMC AMI Utility Management dialog box, select the subsystem connections to which you want to deploy the settings.

  4. Select whether to continue if an error occurs for a selected DB2 subsystem: 

    • Clearing the check box stops the deployment immediately.
    • Selecting the check box continues the deployment with the next DB2 subsystem.
  5. Click Next.

  6. In the Record list, select the records that you want to deploy
    By default all records are selected.

    Use the check box at the top of the first column to clear or select all records from the list.

  7. Click Next.
    A summary of the deployment is displayed.

  8. Review the summary of the deployment, and click Finish.
  9. (Optional) To save the deployment report, perform the following tasks:
    1. Click View Report .
    2. Click Save output text .
  1. From the Product Tools navigation pane, select an NGT Utility Management deployment view.
    The results pane is populated with the Record List, and Results tabs.

  2. Click Deploy  .

  3. In the Deploy NGT Utility Management dialog box, select the subsystem connections to which you want to deploy the settings.

  4. Select whether to continue if an error occurs for a selected DB2 subsystem: 

    • Clearing the check box stops the deployment immediately.
    • Selecting the check box continues the deployment with the next DB2 subsystem.
  5. Click Next.

  6. In the Record list, select the records that you want to deploy
    By default all records are selected.

    You can toggle between     to clear all records and    to select all records from the list.

  7. Click Next.
    A summary of the deployment is displayed.

  8. Click Finish.
