Analyzing a statement from a Db2 package
Use the following procedure to select and tune a statement from any package.
To analyze a statement from a package
New console
- In the DB2 Navigator perspective, open or create a package view that contains the required statement.
- Select the package containing the required statement.
- From the Navigate To list, click Explainable Statements.The results pane displays all Explainable statements for that package.
- Search for and select the required statement.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- Click Properties
to view the statement properties. - Click Explain
to display the Explain results in the Performance perspective. You can now perform SQL tuning tasks.
- Click Properties
Classic console
- Click the DB2 Navigator tab.
- Open or create a package view that contains the required statement.
- Select the package containing the required statement.
- From the command toolbar, click Show Explainable Statements
.The results pane displays all Explainable statements for that package. - Search for and select the required statement.
- Perform one of the following actions:
- Click Properties
to view the statement properties. - Click Explain
to display the graphical Explain of the selected statement in the Explain tab. You can now perform SQL tuning tasks.
- Click Properties
Where to go from here
You can return to the results pane in the DB2 Navigator tab to select other statements.
Tip: For faster searching, add an asterisk to the end of your partial query. Example: cert*
