Setting user quota

A cloud or a tenant administrator can set the quota for a user from the available tenant quota. By default, the user quota is allocated maximum quota, which means, if the user with a maximum quota allocated, provisions a service offering instance, the tenant quota gets consumed. If the tenant quota is less than the requested quota, the service offering instance fails.

If the user quota is specified, the service offering instance consumes the users quota. If the service offering request exceeds the user allocated quota, the service offering request fails.

While editing a user's quota, you can only specify quota more than the actual usage and less than the available to user quota. For example, if a user is allocated 5 resources, from a total 10 tenant quota, the user can only be allocated more than 5 but less than 10 quota.

To view the user quota

  1. From the Administration Console, click the vertical Workspaces menu on the left side of the window and select Tenants.
  2. From the Tenant list, select a tenant whose user's quota details you want to see.
  3. Click the Users tab.
The following figure describes the user quota details when the user quota is specified as maximum.

In this example, the user quota is maximum, and the utilization is n/a.
The following figure describes the user quota details when the user quota is specified.

In this example, the following details are displayed:
  • The User Quota column displays the total number of resources such as the servers, CPUs, memory, and local Storage allocated to the user.
  • The Used by user column displays the resources used by the user.
  • The Available to user column displays the resources available to the user.
  • The Utilization column displays the utilization of the allocated user quota, in percentage.

This data changes when this user requests a service offering instance and the service offering instance is in the provisioning state.
