Limitations of Quick Start
The following sections describe the current limitations of Quick Start:
For additional information about limitations, see Known and corrected issues.
For troubleshooting information, see Quick Start issues.
Browser support
Quick Start runs on any of the following browsers:
- Internet Explorer 9 or later (see below for additional details)
- Firefox 3.5 or later
If you are using Internet Explorer, turn off compatibility mode by doing the following:
- If the menu bar is not already displayed, press Alt to display it.
- Select Tools > Compatibility View Settings.
Clear Display intranet sites in Compatibility View.
Automatic rollback
During many steps in the Quick Start process, if you experience a failure, Quick Start automatically rolls back all content created during that step. Quick Start automatically rolls back content if a failure occurs when creating:
- vCenter connectors
- vCenter environments
- Amazon connectors
- Amazon environments
- Tenant entitlements
BMC also provides instructions for manual rollback of content created while using Quick Start. For information on those procedures, see Quick Start issues.
Objects created outside of Quick Start
The following limitations exist for objects created in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management (that is, created outside of Quick Start).
Incomplete data
Quick Start can display objects created in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management (that is, objects created outside of Quick Start). However, the information Quick Start presents for those object may appear incomplete. More information will exist for objects created within Quick Start. Do not use partial information when working in Quick Start.
Existing data on main page
Before you use Quick Start, the home page may display data that was created in BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management. This typically occurs for tenant and user data.
Lag time
Quick Start does not immediately synchronize data from BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management. It may take up to 30 minutes before Quick Start can display that data.
Including an RSCD agent on virtual machines
Quick Start does not provide a mechanism for including an RSCD agent in the configuration you are using to provision virtual machines. If you want to include an RSCD agent in a server's configuration, use one of the following approaches:
- (vCenter) Add an RSCD agent to the VM template on the vCenter.
- (Amazon) Install an RSCD agent on a private AMI.
No limitations for private VLANs
When you use Quick Start to onboard a port group, you can use a virtual LAN (VLAN) or a private VLAN (PVLAN).
