Installer launch issues

This topic includes the following issues related to launching and re-launching the Install Planner:

Installer fails to launch on the target host with the following error message:

Check the agentinfo <target host> is working fine or not.

To fix the issue:

  1. If you are installing in a Linux environment, ensure you have installed the libraries listed in the Preparing to run the installer on a Linux computer topic.
  2. Ensure that you have not run out of temp space on your target host.
The installer checks the temp space before attempting to launch the silent installer. However, other processes might have used up the temp space between the time of the check and the launch.
  3. Ensure that your anti-virus settings are not preventing the silent installer from launching.

Relaunching the Install Planner causes it to behave unexpectedly

To fix the issue on a Windows computer, perform the following steps:

  1. Delete the ProductRegistry.xml file located in the C:\Windows directory.
  2. Clear the C:\Windows\Temp folder.
  3. Delete the Planner folder located in the C:\Program Files\BMC Software directory.
  4. Run  %temp% and delete all the files.

To fix the issue on a Linux computer, perform the following steps:

  1. Delete /opt/bmc/P*.
      OR
  2. Delete the following files separately:
    1. /opt/bmc/Planner
    2. /opt/bmc/ProductRegistry.x*
  3. Delete all the files under /tmp/.
